There once was a protocol with great dedication,
NNTP, the net news protocol,
Allowed for USENET to take its toll.
Messages and articles, all in one place,
A community of users, with a common space,
Discussions and debates, all in real-time,
A platform for knowledge, a place to chime.
From science to politics, and everything in between,
USENET was the place to be seen,
A world of information, at your fingertips,
NNTP made it all possible, with no slips.
Though the internet has evolved, and USENET may seem old,
NNTP still remains, a protocol so bold,
For it paved the way, for online discussion,
And for that, we give it our appreciation and affection.
