Thinkpads have definately gone downhill
since the IBM days - when I tried to use an old T61 in a home
server sort of role it didn't last a week.
Well, my IBM Thinkpad R51 is alive and well! It currently runs
NetBSD/i386. I expanded the memory to 1Gb. I mainly use it for studying
as the the resource restraints help me focus and not get distracted.
I use surf an Netsurf as borwser, with javascript disabled: wikipedia
medscape, pubmed and academic journal sites won't need it forcibly
either way.
