    Okay, that's correct.

Inside, the plastic mounting point for the spring has
disintergrated, so I think it's toast.

Oh no! Go, go, super glue!
But to be honest, I really hope that there was some kind
of L-shaped metal "hook" part that one could super-glue it
onto the chassis, and the spring could be mounted onto
(or for better or worse, glued to) this flat perpendicular part
    that is poking up.

I had not spent too much time in hardware or crafts store
recently, so I'm not sure if such thing exists off-the-shelf...

    Yep!

Do I need to add something when I rot13 a word?

I hadn't heard there was a common convention to explicitly mark ROT13 parts; but I personally put such obfuscated answer in all-uppercase
and enclosed in "//...//" like foreign language blurb
in some comic books, especially when such obfuscation happened
in the middle of non-obfuscated sentence. For example:

Don't you think this was //NJRFBZR//?

Sometimes, when I answer challenges and discuss [1] how I came up with
the answer (including alternate answers along the way) I would use
this mark a lot to denote parts in the text that were obfuscated.

    Cheers,
