Swamp U: Fauci Gets His Georgetown Golden Parachute

Dr. Anthony Fauci has received his Swamp party badge and accompanying
golden parachute. The face of the federal coronavirus pandemic response is
landing at Georgetown University, where he will serve as a "distinguished"
professor. Elitist campus sinecures are becoming the new post-Washington
norm. Never-Trump stalwart Liz Cheney in March slid into a cozy position
at the University of Virginia after being trounced in the Republican
primary while seeking re-election to her House seat.

It makes sense; it isn't just elected politicians feeding at the enormous
trough. The Swamp ecosystem features a vast array of departments,
agencies, networks and closely related associate branches, all of which
rely on government funding. Universities are fully ensconced in this world
within a world via the federal grant and loan system. Though the Ivy
League schools give it a run for its money, perhaps no single university
in America today is as openly affiliated with the DC ruling establishment
as Georgetown.

Fauci will become "a Distinguished University Professor in the School of
Medicine's Department of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases,"
the university announced June 26. "He will also hold an additional
appointment in the university's McCourt School of Public Policy."

"The rank of University Professor is Georgetown's highest professional
honor that recognizes extraordinary achievement in scholarship, teaching
and service," the school states.

Hillary Goes Back to School

Fauci, Georgetown, and the Swamp are bound by an interesting nexus
involving political power, elitist sensibilities, and a highly-influential
progressive religious order that runs the ostensibly Roman Catholic
academic institution. The overlap has alarming ideological repercussions
that explain so much of what is happening in America today.

Hillary Clinton holds enormous sway at Georgetown, as well. In 2011, she
founded the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS).
Its mission statement is "to examine and highlight the roles of women in
fostering peace and security and growing economies worldwide."

GIWPS Executive Director Melanne Verveer "served as the first US
Ambassador for Global Women's Issues, a position to which she was
nominated by President [Barack] Obama in 2009," the school boasts. The
Advisory Board includes one current and one former Goldman Sachs
executive, the wife of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, a retired
former United Nations general and a retired four-star admiral, and the
president of the federally funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting,
parent company of PBS. Nice power grouping there. But note the essential
agenda, which is devoted to social change.

ACLU National Legal Director David Cole made headlines in Sept. 2021 when
he co-authored an astonishing op-ed for The New York Times with a
colleague in which the two claimed that mandatory coronavirus vaccination
"actually furthers civil liberties." As Liberty Nation reported at the
time, Cole's ACLU bio notes that he "is on leave from Georgetown
University, where he has taught constitutional law and criminal justice
since 1990, and is the Hon. George J. Mitchell Professor in Law and Public
Policy."

for Just Security, a center-left `online forum for the rigorous analysis

Just Security's ties to Georgetown and the Biden administration are
numerous. The university hosts Just Security events, and its professors
frequently contribute articles to the organization.

"Two previous members of that organization's advisory board are major
players in the Biden administration; national security advisor Jake
Sullivan and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines," we noted.
Here is a telling bio for one author at Just Security:

"Heidi A. Urben is Professor of the Practice and Director of External
Education and Outreach in the Security Studies Program at Georgetown
University. She is also a Senior Associate (Non-Resident) at the Center
for Strategic and International Studies, a member of the Council on
Foreign Relations, and a member of the Defense Advisory Committee on
Diversity and Inclusion."

Yes, this is a perfect retirement home for Dr. Fauci.

Georgetown and Ruling Class Values

Then there are those Jesuit ties. The Catholic order that runs Georgetown
has earned renown - or, depending on your point of view, infamy - since
the early years of the 20th Century for its strident move into a
progressive elitist camp.

Fauci's wife, Christine Grady, who herself holds an important medical
establishment post as head of the Department of Bioethics at the National
Institutes of Health Clinical Center, is a Georgetown grad. Grady "is a
double Hoya who received her bachelor's in nursing and biology and Ph.D.
in philosophy from Georgetown," the university states. "Grady and Fauci
were married at Dahlgren Chapel in 1985, had their three daughters at
Georgetown University Hospital, and live within walking distance of the
Washington, DC, neighborhood of Georgetown."

"In facing the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, Fauci said he relied on learnings
from his Jesuit education, particularly in realizing the need to listen to
community members affected by or at risk for HIV," the school adds.

Fauci himself has saluted his Jesuit upbringing in a very odd way while
receiving the 2021 "Humanist of the Year" award from the American Humanist
Association, a pro-atheist/agnostic organization whose motto is "Good
Without God."

"The Jesuit education I had the good fortune to receive in high school and
in college inspired my interest in philosophy and imparted important life
principles," Fauci said in accepting the award. "My outlook has since
evolved to align with the concept of making the world a better place
rather than being involved in organized religion. Yet these Jesuit
principles have been an invaluable guide for decades in my role as a
public health official."

This is a crucial revelation, for it tells us much about what inspires our
Swamp elites in Washington today. While many are nothing but self-serving
grandstanders, a very significant number are True Believers in the need to
harness the power of government to create a new reality, a better world.

So many of the ruinous public effects of federal COVID pandemic policy
that Fauci is so greatly responsible for in his role as the point man of
government response stem from this keen desire to use social engineering
in pursuit of a sketchy and ill-defined "common good." From Hillary
Clinton to the Biden administration and the ACLU, it is a belief nurtured
and advanced at Georgetown University.
