when i lived in a trailer it was pretty nice. my bill was like 100
bucks. i also had a full size furnace so things got warm as fuck in
there quick. but it was a bit small for me. trailer life was not for
me. also landlord was an asshole and neighbors were weird.

My neighbors are all junkies and the property management put in only enough money to keep the place liveable and won't do anything about the drug
problem. I'm going to try to find somewhere else to live this year. I like the apartment and the location but the neighbors are terrible.

neighbors can make all the difference. that's why i rent and don't own. i inherited my moms house but i let her sisters take it. it's also run down because she didn't maintain it.

The more I deal with home owner associations, the more I think it sucks to own property in populated areas. It only makes sense if you are making money out of it because at least you get paid to deal with the bullshit.

There are a lot of areas without home owner associations. I'd never live
in one, the fees can be costly, and feeding into someone's control
freakism and power-tripping that doesn't have any other outlet doesn't
    appeal to me.

I have friends that live in one of those neighborhoods where everyone
goes overboard with Christmas decorations. They had to sign some
agreement that they would do up their house to a specific level of
decoration. I don't know how they'd enforce that without an association.

i've seen on the news a few times cases where people lost their house to a HOA because of not paying the fees. one lady moved there and claimed to not know
about a HOA which i find hard to believe. I would imagine they'd be up her ass from day one.

Not to mention that having an HOA has to be disclosed and signed off on
    at the time of sale...

You mean.. be a landlord instead?

I mean making money out of the property.

Being a landlord counts. Running a prostitution den in the property counts. Delivering your ecommerce's orders from the property counts. You get the idea.

What I am saying is that if I have to deal with HOAs I'd rather be paid for the hassle.
