Lots of people out there don't care to have local copies of
the music and movies they like anymore. They say their
backup is The Pirate Bay or Netflix. Such shortsightedness.
Spotify accomdates "local" copies. That's handy for times when
[1] regular power is out and when a generator at the cottage is
available, and when [2] there are people like me who don't have
the 24/7 traditional DSL/satellite/cable internet services, but
can then enjoy a few pre-saved playlists at any time.
The vast collection of music that I have are either genuine
local mp3 purchases or physical LPs and CDs, but I don't seem
to play those as much anymore.
