On my way home from work today I picked up a "bundle" from a computer store which had a CPU, MB and RAM in it.

I asked the kid "Do I need anything else?" he said Nope.

Came home ripped apart the case, removed the video card, the MB etc. Install the new CPU what's missing? No thermal paste or a CPU fan.

I haven't upgraded this computer in 17 years.... I assumed the giant box the CPU came in would have the CPU fan in it.

    Sigh.

Besides none of the parts look like they belong in a desktop so I'm just gonna give it all to my kid let her upgrade her computer and I'll throw my HDD's in the lake.

I now embrace the throw away lifestyle. Buy cheap use it a year throw it in the lake and buy a new one.

... I'm not tense, just terribly alert!

From my experience, the cpu fan is associated [comes with] the
    mobo or case.

Gas is expensive as you know, so I just threw it in lake Ontario with the rest of the used needles.
