    Hi everyone,

Yep, still alive. I have been dealing with a lot of health issues that have set me back and drained a lot of my energy. Tuesday night I was at the emergency room yet again for around five hours as I have cellulitis in my
right foot (my "bad" foot). I am okay and am on two strong antibiotics.
The medication I am taking for pain management for my diabetes is working
too well and has turned me into a zombie. I am trying to work with my
medical team to try other medications.

Social Security denied my initial claim and I am in my first appeal process.
I hope to hear something soon.

On the computer side, I have decided to set up MBSE under FreeBSD. I will
lose the ability to run DOS doors temporarily as there is no native DOSemu
for MBSE but I am considering not running any DOS doors at all but instead developing my own "doorkit" for BSD/*NIX (no FOSSIL code needed since the programs run via stdin/out).eee Again, the lack of physical and mental
energy has caused me to set that project aside for now but I am going to
try to get in better shape to have the drive to work on projects.

I hope everyone is doing well!

As always, thank you all for being a part of Micronet.

    Sean,

Social Security denied my initial claim and I am in my first appeal process. I hope to hear something soon.

I was denied twice, then Janice (my late wife, who you met years ago)
and I got a lawyer, and went before an administrative law judge. Five
months after the hearing, and seven months before her death, they granted
the disability "Fully Favorable". My lawyer was on a contingency basis,
which meant if we lost the case, he wouldn't have gotten paid. But, he told
me afterwards that had we lost, he would've filed suit in federal court. I guess they figured it'd cost them more if it went that far. Yet, while it's
now over 15 years since the ruling, they keep finding stuff wrong with me.
The latest is atrial flutter/atrial fibrillation. I had to give up things
like tea, candy, chocolate, or anything with caffeine. In doing that, it stabilized my heart rate (which was up to 155, now controlled with proper medication), but my migraine headaches are back. I never thought I'd be a
heart patient. But, the medication also is keeping the blood pressure under control.

I hope everyone is doing well!

As long as we're still on this side of the grass. :)

As always, thank you all for being a part of Micronet.

    Thank you for having us.

I retained a lawyer, who felt I had a good case, and she and her paralegals have guided me through my case. If I am denied this appeal, I will go before an administrative law judge also. Everyone I know who is on Social Security has had to go through that step. I am sure I will win ... just time.

By law, a SS lawyer is paid either 1/4 of your backpay or $6000, whichever is greater. So it's guaranteed income for them.

I am really chomping at the bit to get my power scooter though. I'll be much more mobile then and can take the bus without discomfort. It'd be nice to make quick trips to Dollar General also.

    It's the waiting that's a killer.

Unless they're on a contingency plan, and they lose the case. There
are a ton of ads for "disability lawyers".

That's the best place to shop for those on a budget. It reminds me of
the joke where this woman is in Macy's (the Thanksgiving Day Parade
sponsors), looking at the jewelery case. As she bends over to look at
a nice piece of jewelery, she farts. :P

She is horrified when she looks around, and sees a young male salesman, asking if he can help her find something.

Hoping he didn't notice her "oops moment", she asked about the piece
of jewelery she had been looking at.

To her horror, he replies "Ma'am, if you pooted just looking at it,
you're going to [poop] when I tell you the price!!".

I guess I'm shopping at Dollar General. <G>

Janice and I got lucky when we got our wedding rings. A local K-Mart
was going out of business. They were originally almost $200...we got
    them for $25. :)

Even back then, my late father taught me to be "a frugal cheapskate". Nowadays, Jack Benny would be proud. <G>

I've been thinking of trying dosemu or something similar on my Debian box,
but haven't really had time or energy to do so yet. Will probably be focusing on getting some proper file areas set up first...

    Best regards

Yup, that's exactly what I do. I use BBSLink and their LORD game has quite a few players. Kind of nice to play the game with others instead of by myself on my own system.
