    Trying to synchronize the three HDDs I use to keep my multimedia collection o and I found I had several movies in .ts (MPEG-TS) format from decades ago. ffmpeg to the rescue! Been spending my evening converting those .ts files to *mp4s and learning to use rsync to make sure I have everything synced. Those *ts files, once converted, clean up very nicely.

    Wow, I am not sure I ever even knew that format existed. Does converting
    them save you some space?

    No, it doubles the size, but it is also much higher quality.
