First sign of Winter ?

We've had a few cold days and even an inch or so of snow that stayed
around for a day or so but today I was up a bit earlier than usual
getting ready for a grocery run into town and, when I went down to
get water from the bay out front, I had to hammer my way through
ice to get to the water..

Before now the odd day small puddles of water might freeze over
but when Georgian Bay has ice going out for 50 feet from shore
you know it's getting serious...

I thought the water surface looked a bit too smooth when I first
looked out this morning.. B)
