The United States Coast Guard has now confirmed that the found debris was part of the Titian, the missing submersible carrying five individuals. It was announced that there was a "catastrophic implosion" of the vessel.

During a Thursday press conference, officials stated that a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) from the vessel Horizon Artic discovered the tail cone of the submersible at the tail bow of the Titanic.

The Coast Guard stated that there is indication that the submersible imploded 1,600 feet from the Titanic's bow. They also stated that the debris found on the ocean floor was consistent with a "catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber."

Five major pieces of debris of what remains of the Titan were found. The nosecone was the largest piece discovered. One of the two debris fields that were discovered contained the front-end bell of the pressure hole. This indicated to officials that a catastrophic event had occurred. The second smaller debris field that was found contained the aft end bell.

Officials will reportedly continue to investigate the site of the debris field.

OceanGate, the company responsible for creating and operating the missing submersible, released a statement stating that they "grieve the loss of life."

The families of the lost passengers were notified of the news prior to the press conference.

This is a breaking story, more updates are to come.

Its been weird for years now.

In '95 remember everyone said "the net" was gonna bring us allllllll together in some big happy utopian socialist paradise. C'mon people now, smile on your brother... everyone lets hold hands as we all go out surfing the world wide web in no time experiencing diversity of the world, we will all be smarter
with instant access to literature and knowledge. And everyone will be friends.

    None of that happened.

Things REALLY went off the rails with Facebook... the dominos then fell faster with Twitter. Mainstream journalism took a nosedive. And I'm sure its just a coincidence that gender fantasy nonsense began receiving all sorts of media attention at the same time.

I've said the same thing to friends, and I'm not even that "much" of a religious person.

People who hang on strongly to their faith, obey God and attend church tend to live much more happier lives.

Church lunch picnics, pot-luck cooking, all that... I miss those as a kid.

    It's been scientifically proven.

I don't know how many in Micronet know this but I have been a Latter-Day Saint for 41 years now. It was my faith that kept me going through all of the health crises last year and what guides me today.

I get the impression from my regular church-going relatives that they don't
do those as much as they used to. The church we attended when I was a kid (same religous affiliation) seemed to do the pot-lucks many times a year without special occassions attached. IIRC, some of those were to raise
money for the church charitable groups, while I think others were free.

That church got bigger (a lot bigger) and they seemed to quit doing those things. The church my relatives attend today also grew a lot bigger over
time. They only do those kind of things when someone (preacher, associate preacher, youth preacher) is leaving or to kick off VBS.

As a kid, those were fun, probably because we got to eat a lot and didn't
have to make anything ourselves. :)

A theory I have hard is that the Internat made it easy for small groups of isolated people to come together, which allowed very small minorities nobody took seriously to band together and achieve some power.

See, if you have some fetish which involves having yourself and your wife dress up with horse customes and having wild sex, chances are you are the only guy in town with that idea. You go into the Internet and suddenly you find 20 other people with the same tastes. 20 people can now create an opinion blog and a forum and gather more people. Past certain point it turns out something so minoritary that less than one person per town partakes with becomes an Internet power and therefre a mediatic power.
