From Sean Dennis@618:618/1 to All on Thu Apr 7 10:57:41 2022
    Hello All,

With my recent heart attack, I have been working on ensuring the continuity of many of my BBS projects, to include Micronet and Cheepware, if something happens to me.

In the case of Micronet, Andrew has full access not only to my BBS server but my webhost so he can take over Micronet's website as well as control of Micronet.

I am working on Cheepware right now. I'm cleaning up all the source code and going to put it on my Sourceforge repo which Andrew will have access to as well.

As for my BBS, it would be up to Andrew whether or not to continue it if something happens to me.

This is an unpleasant thing to talk about but with a ticking timebomb in my chest, I feel it's something I need to plan for. I am not planning on dropping dead anytime soon but you never know.

Micronet is very important to me and I want it to continue on whether or not I am at the helm.

Well, I guess this is just like when people talks about Volkerdig's plans to hand over
Slackware to somebody else, or Linus' plans to pass the control of the kernel to
somebody else if need be. They are plans that are there just because people wants for
it to be a plan, but this people are eternal and will be building software forever.

I wish all network owners were as conscientious. We're here one day,
gone the next and it's left to everyone else to deal with the mess
that's left behind. Thanks for making sure the network is in good hands.

I've also been thinking, we should have a sysop memorial wall website somewhere. I was looking for a sysop's contact details. He is in the
nodelist and everything, Yet, he expired some time ago. It'd also be a
good way to honor those who have run a BBS in the past, or currently,
    but is no more.

Nodelists should also maybe have a deceased.

Umm anyway, I am rambling now :)...and we all know you're not going
    anywhere just yet!

We are at that age now. I don't have any big legacy, so when I am gone,
my step-daughter has instructions to sell what she doesn't want and
toss whatever doesn't sell LOL. Yea, someone would have to make over my Micronet hubbing, but that's easily handled.

I just need to set her up with a list of email addresses to email when
    I am gone.

I am lucky that I have Andrew to take over things if need be. It would be a real PITA to try to train someone how to do some of the stuff involved with
FTN hubbing. Thankfully I took the time to automate the creation and
hatching of the Micronet nodelist and infopack which means Andrew can just
copy over the files and the script will work with very minor modification in his system.

I am not planning on going anywhere soon, thankfully.

If you're referring to a memoriam by leaving deceased sysops' entries in the nodelist, the nodelist police were having none of that a couple of years
    back.

It might be interesting to come up with a downlist, *all* of the BBS sysops that have left the scene. You'd want to key on the sysop name and remove any duplicate entries, but you could log the first time they arrived in the nodelist and when they left.

... Wait, this is a *scene*?

IIRC, one of Europe's nodelist police has a way of telling people when a system/sysop first showed up, and the last time they were listed. Not sure
if he is doing it by hand or what, be he sometimes chimes in to correct
someone about when they first joined FIDO.

He must not have much to do.

There is a web site that you can search the nodelist for a sysop, and it'll pull up the name and all the changes. I'd forgotten some of the telephone numbers I'd run with back in the day and found it mildly entertaining.
