  • JAM tosser for Linux

    Hi everyone,

    Can anyone recommend a simple (I use that word loosely) JAM tosser under
    Linux? I'm wanting to set up a point on my personal box.

    The only real tosser I'm aware of for Linux is hpt, it can do JAM, Squish & MSG. You can look back at my messages to Shawn for examples of config.

    Something super simple you also *could* do is use Mystic to toss messages into JAM bases, you could even use Mystic to do the bink transfers as well. Don't have to use the BBS side of Mystic at all. I've had a point setup in under 10 minutes (from download to poll) before when testing things.

    I use a FTP script to move mail back and forth between systems locally. If Squish/Linux wasn't so unstable, I'd use it.

    The easiest one is Crashmail II if you can find it, I used to be able to
    set that one up in about 5 mins. :)

    HPT (thanks to help in Micronet) is running things here. Once you look
    at the examples Jay gave me it's not that difficult.

    Honestly... It wasn't that hard to setup, and now that I've done it

    My current complaint is the same one I always have, GD netmail. It worked
    when I first set it up and now... I watch it send you netmail, but you
    never see it / nor does your automated systems. (Areafix etc)

    Only system I ever had that did netmail correctly was Talisman BBS. Oh and ezycom.
