I plugged it in a USB 2.0 slot on my XP pc but nothing showed up in Windows Explorer.
Later I tried plugging it in a Vista pc and it worked. I guess my XP pc
is too old to cut the mustard on this new fangled stuff.
Will I ever learn? .......

I thought most USB 3.0 -ready flash drives were supposed to be
backward compatible. Does it say so on the packaging? If not,
that might explain why it's only $20; some companies offload
electronics that don't meet original spec.

Maybe your disk is partition in ETP you must use this
procedure for make visible to Xp:
1) run cmd prompth on menu start xp

3) select disk / number disk (example selectdisk 2 )
4) CLEAN
5) from manage h.d. look ad new disk and use command Create New

assign new letter if it has no one , and then format.

Yes, on the back of the carton it says Backward Compatible
with USB 2.0 .
I plugged it in the XP pc again and after about 30 seconds
I saw the HDD LED was on so I waited and the Thumbdrive
came up in Windows Explorer.
Lord, Grant Me patience but I WANT IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to confess that I keep a copy of Word Web running
so I can try to keep from misspelling a word OR also I use
WW to find out what a strange (to me) word in a message
means.
I love getting information via any and all BBS message.

Good to hear that it cooperates afterall.
I have a USB 3.0 64GB that warns me that "this device can run
faster on another port" or something like that. When that
happens, the fallback speed is at USB 1.1 levels or something.
Often a retry and a re-insertion kick-starts the USB 2.0
speeds.

You get want you NEED, not WANT. ;)

Isn't that a great little dictionary? What version are you
running? Mine is 6.3. Does yours still prompt with the "did
you fly anywhere?" question every once in a while?

That I've noticed too. You could practically ask a computer
question in any echo and a sysop (it's mostly sysops 'cuz they
*do* work on computer a lot) will chime in with a solution or a
tip.
That may not be the case in some internet forums, unless you
find the right forum to be in. :(
Do You use the nickname/handle OGG in another echo?

I use Ogg primarily in otherNETS. I stick with real FN LN in
Fidonet.

Is there a lot of talk action on the radio waves? Once, I had
a fascination for CB radio, the sidebands, etc.. But I never
got around to building a station. Eventually, just listening
to content over poor reception bothered me.
But we digress..
