Areas affected...Southern IL...Southeast MO
Concerning...Tornado Watch 320...
Valid 270001Z - 270130Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 320 continues.
SUMMARY...Well-organized convective line continues to surge
southeastward from southern Illinois into southern Missouri. A
corridor of significant wind gusts (i.e. 75+ mph) appears probable
across south-central into southeast Illinois.
DISCUSSION...Ongoing convective line has shown an increase in
forward propagation over the last hour or so, particularly with the
portion of the line that moved through the LSX area. Velocity data
from KLSX continues to show strong outbound velocities within the
portion of the line moving through west-central IL. Significant
severe gusts (i.e. greater than 75 mph) are possible within this
portion of the line as it moves through more of southern IL.
Southern portion of the line has allow surged forward, though not
with quite the same speed as farther north. However, the
southernmost cell within the line now has a more outflow-dominant
signature, and cell interactions with the ongoing supercells across south-central MO are probable. Strong gusts are expected to become
more prominent within this portion of the line once these
interactions are complete.
