The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 607
continues.

SUMMARY...A bowing line segment across central North Carolina will
likely continue to propagate to the Atlantic coast. A downstream
watch is expected soon to address this concern.

DISCUSSION...Multiple wind-damage reports have been received in
association with an organized squall line that has recently passed
over the Raleigh, NC area. VWP observations from KRAX sampled winds
in the lowest 1-2 km between 50-60 knots as the line passed over the
site, so it remains entirely plausible for such winds to mix to the
surface within the stronger downbursts within the line. Although
MLCAPE decreases with eastward extent towards the Atlantic coast,
deep-layer shear orthogonal to the line remains near 40-50 knots,
which will help maintain storm organization/intensity. Consequently,
the potential for damaging/severe winds will likely continue into
northeast NC and far southeast VA, and will warrant severe watch
issuance.
