The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 558
continues.

SUMMARY...Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to
continue through the evening.

DISCUSSION...The outflow boundary has outrun most of the line of
storms across central and south-central Virginia. As a result,
reflectivity has decreased significantly along the line. Expect this
weakening trend to continue through the evening. Farther east,
thunderstorms continue across portions of northern Virginia and
central Maryland. The LWX VWP shows around 15 knots of shear and
thunderstorms have been mostly unorganized as a result. However,
enough instability remains across the region for strong
updraft/downdraft pairs and a continued threat for strong to severe
storms.=20

Therefore, southern portions of watch 558 will likely be able to be
dropped within the hour while the threat continues farther north.
