    Hey nobody!

Looks like the uprade has taken hold. It will probably require some adjusting but so far so good.

    Could it be any fresher?

What is the reason/cause for this obsession with having the newest
possible kernel? Does it work any better for you than the one from last
week did? What does it do that the previous one didn't do for you?

    Hey Dan!

What is the reason/cause for this obsession with having the
    newest possible kernel?

It keeps me off the streets where gangs of old men gather on the street corner looking for their next fix of metamucil. Very scary. I know because I am their leader.

What does it do that the previous one didn't do for you?

The previous one, which was running the show up to this morning, was vmlinuz-6.7.1. Given the short run of 6.10.6 I am unable to answer this question as further time is required.

    I see. Okay.

    That's pretty much a non-answer... And, before you'll give 6.10.6 a
long enough run to know, you'll have upgraded to the next new one.

    So, the original question(s) remain.

    Hey Dan!

before you'll give 6.10.6 a long enough run to know, you'll have
upgraded to the next new one.

Possible but unlikely since it is one of the two hotspots for the wireless network. The only reason I'm upgrading now is because of a storm taking down the other one so I took the opportunity to bring both in sync which they currently are. The other hotspot is the fidonet node known as Little Mikey's Brain. It was a ton of work but because of my more adventerous nature on my workstation (aka One of us) it didn't take too long to achieve. It used to be a 16 penguin system but has been replaced by a quad core I happened to have in reserve.

It is now the Brain on the local scene. Unless something ugly rears it's head in the meantime I seriously doubt I'll be changing kernels before the new year.

My workstation is a entirely different matter and all bets are off when there is an official new kernel to be had. Same with gcc and glibc etc. I know haw to have fun and get away with it ... mostly. Getting old though. :::sigh:::

Note that I was a couple days ahead of you getting up to speed but then again I was in greater need and had to call in one of the reserves (a 16 penguin system) to get the ball rolling. As of this morning I think I've taken care of all the needed configurations.

    Life is good,
