Putin is currently in China, and both countries are trying to reach an agreement regarding the gas pipeline from Russia to China. China is willing to proceed but does not want to pay for it and demands a substantial discount on the gas to be supplied. Moscow is desperate, but whether it is truly that desperate remains to be seen.
