Several investigative journalists have been investigating how Trump's Commerce Secretary performed as a hedge fund manager. Scott Bessent has worked for several leading financial firms and at one point managed a hedge fund worth several billion dollars. Scott was working for Soros when he decimated the British pound. This netted Soros a billion dollars in profit.

His track record as an independent hedge fund manager wasn't particularly convincing. His annual returns fluctuated enormously and in most years significantly lagged the index.

One investigative journalist even calculated that at one point Scott simply lost 90% of the money he managed. This was due to losses on the stock market and losses to participants.

In short, he may have been a major player, but he wasn't a convincingly good one.

He's now a Commerce Secretary who has no idea how import duties work in practice. That, too, doesn't inspire confidence in his knowledge or his character.

I think he's a really dirty creep who'll do anything for a little bit of power and prestige.
