The problem with experts is that too many of them talk outside of their field of knowledge and the Elitists try to elevate them.
I keep seeing this "Elitists" word (capitalized). What's the definition of an >Elitist? I can't get enough from context, and am left with some ambiguous form >of ad hominem.
It is usually used here as a general ad hominem but can also be used with
some logic to it.
When I think of an Elitist, I am usually picturing someone like Bill Gates, George Soros, or Klaus Schwab who have a lot of money, who think that this somehow makes them smarter than others, and who like to tell others how
they should live.
It can also mean someone who has "bought into" whatever philosophy these
types of people are promoting, who may have a college degree (often in some unrelated field), and who thinks this makes them smarter than others and therefore able to tell them what to do.
In both cases, the person doing the telling may not have any actual
experience or education in the field in question. They also tend to be left-leaning, if not outright leftist, but I don't think that is
necessarily a requirement. They may be involved in politics or activism.
I suspect there have been, and are, many conservative "Elitists," too.
It is used ad hominem here when a person appears to go against the "anti-narrative" that many conservatives/MAGAs have bought into which
itself has become its own narrative.
