• Georgia Shooter

From IB Joe@1:342/201 to All on Fri Sep 6 12:43:00 2024
Georgia school shooter facing murder charges as an adult. He should also face the death penalty. if you ask me...

The facts aren't complete out... Father is being charged with second degree murder, among other things. Apparently the guns were accessible to the boy even after he made threats to the school a year ago.

This shooter was known to the feds a year ago. The school knew and the father knew.

I think the FBI should have put the father on notice and told him that he would be found criminally liable for he let his son have access, unsupervised anyway, to his guns.

The father should have locked things up so that his son couldn't do what he did.

Culpability... Apparently the kid was bullied at school... Did the principal have any culpability... maybe?? If not criminally at least financially because he allowed it to happen. What about the FBI... They knew of the situation and didn't force some kind of intervention.

I have Canadian roots and I'm American fully on board with the 2nd Amendment... it should have been the 1st and not the 2nd. My guns are always locked up, not my carry gun... It's either on me or beside me.

The father if he had bought him a gun he should not had let the gun be accessible to the child until he was of age.

The government on the other hand has known the last 9 of the 7 mass shootings.

The government should be made part of the culpability...

It's ideal to store your guns in a gun safe, but I don't think it's required by law. I don't know how the father could really be guilty of anything.

The FBI, yea, they are guilty. They had the kid on some kind of psycho list, but they still let him live in a home with a registered gun owner. That's odd. What good is such a list if they don't do anything with it?

Another thing that's odd is Kamala, who has been avoiding the media at all costs, suddenly emerges from the algae pond to muster the words "We need gun control."

I've long suspected that the government stages the school shootings, and all these clues just amplify my suspicion.

Each state is different... Georgia "MAY" be the same a Florida... and to answer that question... You don't have to. I do it because of my recessive Canadian gene. When in Florida all my guns, but the one I carry, are locked in a safe. My carry gun is either on my or close to me... I practice a lot and I wait eagerly for a Venezuelan gang to knock on my door.

Back to daddy... He bought his son the gun he used for Christmas of 2023. His son was too young to own one... Father could have bought it and only let his have unsupervised use of it when he was of age.

I think there could have been a lesser charge... Straw Man purchase... something... I think the left is working on trying to work a system where they eventually find gun manufacturers culpable in crimes where guns are used.

The father did not do society any favors by not heeding the warnings from a year ago... Nor did the School and the FBI for not following through and making the "Root" causes, and fixing things...

Apparently the kids at the school use to bully him... calling him gay.... I'm not sure if he's gay... But now they can add mass murderer to the things they call him.

Father should have demanded more from the school... Epic failure in all measures.

I've long suspected that the government stages the school shootings, and all these clues just amplify my suspicion.

It is an election year... expect more shootings. And expect that these shooters were known by the government.

It's too easy to armchair quarterback these things.

Having a kid get bullied at school does things. You want your kid to be able to stand up against those that are putting him down. You also have a reponsibility to facilitate that in a manner that complies with the social contract.

It's a tough thing to deal with. Like you said, there were a lot of failures here.

As far as the gun issue... I'm tired of beating this stick with a dead horse. Not touching it.

At what time is a child transformed from a having a promising future to having no future. Is this when the culture of hip-hop and do what you want mentality become more dominant and the guidance from parents becomes a thing that happens in other families.

Is this why America seems to be unwoven specially around the inner-cities and urban population centers. This type of life is considered to be normal because it is how they were raised. They don't know any better.

Now you're starting to sound like @RonL

My worry is this... a lot of times you wonder how we got where we got to... and the answer is simple... The left loves to make slight changes over time so that they get what they want... it may have took 30-40-50 years... But it was done in baby steps.

Last couple shooting they found the parents guilty of something... There are major red flags the father ignored... I'll give you that. I just think the Democrats are playing the long game here where they hold gun manufacturers liable...

All my guns, except my carry gun, are always locked up. My carry gun is always on me, or close to me. I'll sleep with it out on the nightstand or in the drawer of that nightstand...

Had the FBI visited me a year prior telling me that my daughter was making online threats to the school... I'd revisit my thoughts on this...

BTW, when I'm in the Socialist Republic of Canada ALL my guns are always in a safe unless they are being used.

I just think we need to look into the culpability of Government officials... School and FBI here. The principal ignored this young man being teased by his school mates about being gay... as the boy said in court... Moreover, I did sere someone showing the kids social media accounts where he expressed his pronouns as The/Them.

I think the FBI should have put the father on notice and told him that he woul
be found criminally liable for he let his son have access, unsupervised anyway
    to his guns.

In this case, the FBI actually did act by telling local authorities, who
then took the kid's word that "I don't have a Discord account so I couldn't have been making terroristic threats" over the word of the FBI and the
    evidence they had.

The father should have locked things up so that his son couldn't do what he did.

Supposedly the father told authorities that if he thought his kid had done those things he'd get rid of all his guns. Between the "talk" with
authorities and the shooting, the dad instead apparently bought the kid a gun which was used in the shooting.

Culpability... Apparently the kid was bullied at school... Did the principal have any culpability... maybe?? If not criminally at least financially becaus

They told local authorities who took the kid's word over the FBI's. The
locals should be in some trouble over this.

The father if he had bought him a gun he should not had let the gun be accessible to the child until he was of age.

That is something that bothers me. In one county in Kentucky, "encounters" with kids at school with weapons went up drastically in 2021 vs. 2019 (the
last year before the COVID schoolyear). As nearly all the kids in the
district are under age, where are they getting these weapoms from?

I cannot remember if the district in question includes Louisville or
Lexington, but it was not a rural district where some kids might have a
hunting rifle in the cab of their pickup. It is a case where the kids are caught with knives and guns inside the school building, sometimes even
getting them past the metal detectors.

    So where are their parents?

    [...]
As for the father... it was the dumbest thing anyone could have done... If you bought him a gun to hunt with... hunt with it and lock it up.

To me the "social contract" part is actually what you describe.

The Second Amendment allows the father to buy and own a gun.

The social contract associated with it is that the father properly stores
the weapons so that the underaged kids in the household do not get a hold
of it -- "lock it up" as you say. I would go as far as to say it also
includes teaching the kids about responsible gun usage at times when we do
have the gun(s) out... not a toy, no pointing it at others, keeping it
    secured, etc.

In this case, the father totally missed the social contract part on all counts... he ignored the talk with authorities about possible issues with
his kid and instead bought him a weapon, he didn't properly insure that
they kid couldn't access the weapon without the father knowing, he didn't
do a good enough job teaching the kid not to shoot people with it. IMHO,
he deserves to be in all sorts of trouble and to have his second amendment rights forfeited like any other felon.

Some people just take for granted that their kids will never do anything
wrong and don't pay enough attention until they do.

Not everyone is a responsible person. Some people are so ignorant that they just break the same law over and over and over again. I don't know if that's the case with the Georgia family, but sometimes we come to a point where we can't count on the law to solve our problems, so instead, we have to adapt to the ignorant SOBs.

And we should expect the FBI to be vigilant, but how can we?

I complained to my rep about the Biden admin lying about replacing lead water pipes. He just made excuses for it and brushed it off. I also complained to that same rep about schools not having sufficient security, and he brushed that off too. Now it's time for his re-election, and despite his crystal-clear negligence, I'll still vote for the POS because if it's not him then it's a Democrat. :(

It didn't happen often, if at all, at my "city" school. A friend, who

In this case, the FBI actually did act by telling local authorities, who then took the kid's word that "I don't have a Discord account so I couldn't have been making terroristic threats" over the word of the FBI and the evidence they had.

Not good enough... They need to dig a little deeper and have a little more follow through... The Trillions collected in taxes... The Trillions of tax dollars spent spent... and all they can say is that he didn't have discord... They had evidence... He was "Gay" and he was being bullied and he had pronouns.

The government should/could have forced DEI training on the students and teachers to ensure this kind of bullying did not happen any more.

Supposedly the father told authorities that if he thought his kid had
done those things he'd get rid of all his guns. Between the "talk" with authorities and the shooting, the dad instead apparently bought the kid
a gun which was used in the shooting.

The government should have been more forceful with the father. Lockup all the guns, now, or we'll take them from you. Any future gun purchases shall also be hidden from the child until there is evidence of this being a passing thing.

If you don't comply you'll go to jail for years and the inmates at the prison will do to you what your son can only dream about... Son is openly gay and the students of the school bully him on that fact.

BTW, local news reported that the mother called 30 minutes prior to the shooting to warn them about her son and the potential of a catastrophic event... This was the same kid that was investigated just a year before by the FBI.

ALL people at ALL levels need to be held accountable.

That is something that bothers me. In one county in Kentucky, "encounters" with kids at school with weapons went up drastically in
2021 vs. 2019 (the last year before the COVID schoolyear). As nearly
all the kids in the district are under age, where are they getting these weapoms from?

I cannot remember if the district in question includes Louisville or Lexington, but it was not a rural district where some kids might have a hunting rifle in the cab of their pickup. It is a case where the kids
are caught with knives and guns inside the school building, sometimes
even getting them past the metal detectors.

    So where are their parents?

HAHAHAHA... Ummmm... I have an ex. She worked for, at the time Florida Power, it has since been bout out and is run by an other corporation... Anyway, it's a nuclear power plant and after 911 Florida Power had to make some policy changes.

One of these many changes were that you couldn't bring you guns to work... ANYMORE... Back then I thought more Canadian... and I was Holly F*&K... people take guns to work and they are debating this... openly... because these people still want to take their guns to work...

Anyway, decades later... I see their points now... BUT you don't
really need your guns at work if there are armed guards at the gate.

I've only lived in Red States. Where trucks drive around with guns in their gun racks in the fall... hunting season... I worked on the Pop Warner football league and we raffled off a gun during a fund raiser...

Anyway... Guns aren't the problem... crazy people with guns are the problem. And the parents of these kids need to be responsible and insure that there are no guns in the cars the kids are driving.

Several things outside of 2nd degree murder. I see where the government came up with the charges... People who drive getaway vehicles during bank robberies where someone is killed are also charged for murder.

These RINOs like to get re-elected, and they can't do it if they completely repulse their voters (like Liz Cheney did.) So far, all this guy has done wrong (besides ignore major issues) is he voted against the impeachment of Joe Biden. When I was a boy there is no social outrage. No Trans Flags and no Rainbow flags replacing the American Flags in classrooms.

In times past, folks did not talk about such things.
In todays world, folks are open and much more honest.
That is the difference between then, and now.

IOW, gays and lesbians, along with trans, have always been there. But
swept under the rug, as if they were some kind of incurable disease.

That was what our society wanted back in those days. So that is
what it got back. Until Barack Obama came along and gave everybody
hope. And change. That is what killed eveerything.

Gays and lesbians have been around since time immemorial. Even
those who are pretending to be one or the other have been around
    since the very beginning.

And those gays and lesbians (along with trans) will still be around
for ages to come. After all, that is what we are all here for. Hope
and change. For all it is worth.

The founders of the Boy Scouts of America were gay. Does that mean
that all boy scouts are gay? Or that many in the past were gay? What
does it matter anyway? Scouting is scouting, regardless of whether
a kid is a boy, a girl, or trans. Which might explain wny the boy
scouts changed its name to scouting. Just plain scouting.

Girl scouts are a different matter entirely. Boys can never be
members of the girl scouts. Even though girls (and trans) can be
members of what used to be the boy scouts. Unnerstan'?

My thoughts exactly... What I thought about you telling me about armchair quarterbacking... I got ready to hear your armchair quarterbacking on the topic. BTW, what you did is called objecting through projection. You projected onto me exactly what you accused me of doing... You armchair quarterback you...

I genuinely wanted to reply with, "No, you're right. My bad." But I don't recall saying anything that could be taken that way. The crux was, "Hey, we're simplifying this stuff too much, and it deserves a closer look or more understanding of the complexity."

I'm having a tough time seeing how that qualifies as armchar quarterbacking (or whatever similar turn of phrase you want to use here).

I'll add this: my statement was not directed at you specifically, and for that, I do apologize. Your post just happened to be the one I replied to that generated the sentiment that this was a simple issue. So there wasn't a direct accusation intended.

I have no idea who Alan is, and I don't understand the "starting to

I said I was suspicious about the government looking to find fault... I'm perfectly okay with finding fault... I just need time to review and
    think on things.

I do believe the government needs to do more...

Why? I thought we were trying to minimize government involvement in things like family affairs and mental health.

And all I said is this... If we're going to find daddy responsible lets find the agencies also...

Again, why? This was a local issue. The father, the school system, and the city/county authorities should be the ones involved here. I know that the FBI is all over the place, but that's sort of the problem. This wasn't a national threat and didn't cross state lines, so I'm having a hard time seeing why their involvement and resulting culpability is such a sticking point.

Traditional values are all the rage in Russia, with at least 17
Britons and 2 Americans having relocated there due to immigration
reform in that country making it possible for them to relocate.

This made me snort my soda out my nose. Thank you.

It is easy access to guns. And type of guns used. On the second
school day of the year, a shooting occurred in Georgia, killing four people - two adults and two children. The shooter surrendered, and
was charged as an adult - at age 14. How many more unnecessary
killings have to happen before this pandemic is brought to an end? Children killing children (and adults) for sport. WE LOVE OUR GUNS!

We love our guns. Doesn't matter who kills who. Or how many folks
get killed. Guns are a sacred right. According to the 2nd Amendment.
Bang Bang Your Dead I Never Pulled The Trigger Alec Baldwin ...

I 100% get your point... My position on this doesn't align real with "taking sides" though.

I do believe in the _purpose_ of the Second Amendment. I don't believe it was instituted to allow me to carry an arsenal into McDonald's in the off chance I'd get to mow down someone else with an assault rifle trying to steal a bag of fries, though.

The point was to keep the government in check. To remind those holding positions of power that this is OUR government, and you can't run away with it and subjugate us.

To that end, whatever weaponry the government has, we should also have. Unfortunately, the forefathers didn't have a crystal ball and couldn't have ever imagined the kind of destructive power mankind would later invent.

By the Second Amendment, I should be building missile silos between my tank garages. This isn't hyperbole. I'm not joking at all when I say we really should have been doing just that. The goverment lost respect for the citizenry long, long ago.

And to THAT end, the Second Amendment has lost its relevance. We gave it away. We continue to do it more disservice by bickering amongst ourselves about which specific gun, stock, magazine, or attachment should be legal and which we're willing to part ways with.

To think that a citizen-led militia stands a chance today is beyond delusion. So the options are to either fix the root of the problem (and I'm not about to go there), or to make society a safer place to exist. The rest of the free world seems to have figured that part out. I'm flummoxed as to why we can't.

Man, I'm really sorry... My soapbox is creaking under my weight.

One of the things that I've noticed over the years is that people who are Democrats tend to be people who basically want something for free "from the gov't" - not understanding that the gov't creates nothing and that what they want will be taken by force from their neighbor.

These shooters tend to be losers, so they can't make it on their own. So they like the Democrats because of the hand outs they promise.

Right, but there's a slight advantage to having a moderate RINO instead
of a regular Democrat. These RINOs like to get re-elected, and they
can't do it if they completely repulse their voters (like Liz Cheney
    did.)

The problem is that's his purpose.

They are, effectively, moles. They quietly side step some issues. They vote for the stuff we want, but only if there's already an Elitist majority - so their vote is meaningless. But when the Elitists need a swing vote, he's right there for them.

And if the Elitists need someone to look the other way, he's more than happy.

Ya, his Democrat opponent is way worse, but, then, he's supposed to be. The Elitists don't want their mole to be voted out.

I noticed you asked in another (sysop) echo and didn't get much help as to

There are a couple of FIDO file echoes -- BACKBONE and ECHOLIST -- that

echo list packet. The ELIST file usually arrives once a month -- sometimes more often -- and the most recent one I received is dated 9/1/2024. It includes a packet where the rules of all of the moderated echoes are kept.

The ELIST echo is also a good place to ask questions regarding where to get
the list. The keeper of the ELIST usually answers questions there.

I'm still a bit miffed that proponents of indivisualism, local government, and

Who parented the generations that fly rainbow flags? Was that your generation?
Where DID they learn that kind of crap from?

I often ask that question and can answer that at least some members of my generation (X) raised them as I know the parents. Seems like everyone my
age, if they have multiple kids, has at least one that is supposedly
"gender dysphoric" or cross-dresses or has some other social issues. These
are what I'd call "city kids." The ones raised in the country don't seem to follow this pattern.

Probably a good deal of them were raised by parents that are my age. Could be some of the older ones were raised by the generation before mine.

Based on some of the other odd things that today's youth are triggered by... thumbs up, the phrase "OK," ending a text with a period... I'd say my generation raised a bunch of mentally messed-up, easily-offended kids.

In my mind, the congressional idea is still a sound one. The general public doesn't have the time or resources to allow governance to be a full time task. (The shortcomings there can be in many forms -- being unduly swayed by the media, not having the legal or historical context that benefits a decision maker, etc.)

    I didn't quote anything...

I have trepidations about charging the/a parent.

I do recall saying to someone going down this rabbit hole that all the facts are in.

So... if the investigators of this crime have unearthed text messages or something like that... Where daddy says to his son... The gun I bought you is under my bed and there is 3 or 4 loaded magazines in the nightstand... go to school and shoot them MF'ers up for being bullies.

I'd see the point of charges being laid.

If the son entered a room where he knew the guns were and took the one that was meant for hunting and he, without his father knowledge or permission, took that gun and shot up the school... I think the murder charges lay at the son's feet.

I have mentioned that I am a dual citizen of Canada and the US... In Canada there are well known laws about gun storage... They have to be locked up period. In Florida at least... I know of no "law" about how to store a gun. There are some things you have to do if you are driving with one in your car. I have a carry permit so I just have mine on my hip anyway.

All I'm saying is this... To press 2nd degree murder charges on a parent... as stupid as this one maybe... MAY BE an over reach.... Never mind... just looked it up...

2nd degree murder charges in the US can stem from "Extreme recklessness".

Prosecutor will/may argue that the father should have locked up all the guns in the house knowing his son's challenges and past.

So... I still worry about the presidents charging people for other people's crimes.

I agree that it needs an overhaul. A lottery system with a single term sounds better than what we have now. Now, committee chairs make the recruitment decisions, and that's bad because 1) they make bad decisions, and 2) there's some sort of elite alliance that gets candidate names on the recruiters' desks. Lastly, 3) primaries are rare. We haven't had one (for US Rep) in my region for a very long time. Not the Republicans nor the Democrats.

But when Alan is wrong about something, he likes to rub that in peoples' faces. It's bizarre, it's funny, and I think he does it for our entertainment.

This is a real names echo, BTW. Thanks.

Would you get on board with banning the entire congressional institution itself? What good are they? They are on an honor system where they supposedly represent the people in their districts, but here we are getting irritated wit
their adherence to the whims of lobbyists.

It is better than the alternative... a dictator.

For many years, it was the marxists in the Democrat party who would have
wanted something like this. I am a little concerned to see others
    suggesting it.

I have trepidations about charging the/a parent.

Charging parents when a minor commits a crime, even if the minor is charged
as an adult, is not new.

Finding parents financially liable in civil court is even less new. As the details have emerged, I suspect this daddy is going to be the target of
many negligence lawsuits (and rightfully so).

So... if the investigators of this crime have unearthed text messages or something like that... Where daddy says to his son... The gun I bought you is under my bed and there is 3 or 4 loaded magazines in the nightstand... go to school and shoot them MF'ers up for being bullies.

If the father wasn't told his son was a potential threat, and then turned around and bought the kid a gun anyway, you might have a point. As is, he should have known better and should be charged.

2nd degree murder charges in the US can stem from "Extreme recklessness".

    Which fits in this instance.

I would also argue that it fits the description of the actions of local law enforcement, who took the kid's "I don't have Discord, I only have Tik Tok" word over the FBI evidence.

I agree that it needs an overhaul. A lottery system with a single term sounds better than what we have now. Now, committee chairs make the recruitment decisions, and that's bad because 1) they make bad decisions, and 2) there's some sort of elite alliance that gets candidate names on the recruiters' desks

Don't doubt that lottery candidates would also ultimately be from elite
    groups and not everyday people.

Lastly, 3) primaries are rare. We haven't had one (for US Rep) in my region fo
a very long time. Not the Republicans nor the Democrats.

Why are they rare? We have them before every election, even the local non-partisian races, and even if there is only one candidate from each
party running. Do they really not have them, or do you just not vote in
    them?

    Hello Randall,

I noticed you asked in another (sysop) echo and didn't get much help as
to how to tell the difference between real names vs. allows aliases
    echoes.

There are a couple of FIDO file echoes -- BACKBONE and ECHOLIST -- that
might be of assistance. One, or both, are where you can get the latest
echo list packet. The ELIST file usually arrives once a month --

There is no official elist/echolist in Fidonet.

Hey, thanks a ton for that, Mike.

A bunch of humbug is still humbug.

Certainly the most thorough of the responses I've received on that.

    First and foremost -

You do not have to use your legal name anywhere outside of legal
    documents.

There is no official elist or echolist in Fidonet.
My own is good enough for me, and any others would be redundant.

Google allows users to use any name they want across Google services.
Google even apologized to users for having forced them to use real
names for three years prior to that change.

"There are no more restrictions on what name you can use."
    ~Google

    Isn't that great?

German courts have taken Facebook to task, ruling that Germans
must be allowed to sign up under pseudonyms to comply with privacy law.

This has been excpanded to include the EU.

It is time for Fidonet to join the rest of the universe.

I'll have to go back and review.

Use of whatever name floats your boat should not take you
    long to review.

    I remember looking through .. uhh ...

Please ... please ... please ... do not pull a Joe Biden on us.

something (as useful as that is) and had names and descriptions but no high
level rules. Will take a closer look over the weekend.

Rules? There are no Rules ...
