He sure is. But with all the stuff that Putin has going on right now, it's bizarre that he would back Harris over Trump. So why would Putin endose the party that is handing money to Putin's (alleged) enemy?

It can mean either:

He isn't a bad one, and was elected because his first Republican opponent,
an incumbent, was a lot like Trump and could never keep his mouth shut. He
was re-elected because the Trump/MAGA endorsed Republican candidate was
just too extreme in some of his views, especially when it comes to the
right to privacy. I liked him as an AG but even I could not vote for him.

The Legislature used to be solid Democrat but for serveral years now has
been majority Republican, enough so that they can override vetos.

There are lots of hardcore bible thumpers so you'd probably like that.
