It seems like train derailments are happening at a higher frequency
since 2020, but I'm not sure if that's because the media is reporting
them more, or if there really is a higher number.

I'm willing to bet that it's because the media is reporting them more.

They are using them as distractions so people don't notice what they want to cover up.

Whether caused by nefarious parties or not, train derailments are becoming all too common here in America. Last week, a garage was hit by a runaway train for the second time, and derailed trains have also been captured plowing through towns across America.

Railroads are (usually) in charge of maintaining their tracks, so that
wouldn't be the government's responsibility (usually). That said, the interesting thing about this derailment is that it was mentioned on the
news that it happened, but I only heard that it turned out to be sabatoge because someone posted the local news article on a newsgroup.

That seems likely, but this has been going on all throughout the Biden/Harris administration. However, there is also an unprecedented amount of issues that the media may wish to distract from.

That's interesting. Local news can't hide things from the public as easily as the national news can.

It was probably their (nat'l news) intention to hide the fact that the derailment was intentional, but since the story had already been leaked by local news, it's now all over the national news as well.
