I read about congress' Protecting Kids on Social Media Act, sponsored by US Senator Shatz (D).
It required social media companies to "verify the age" of users. That part sounds great, but they're not being asked to verify that the user is 18 or older, they're being asked to verify that the user is 13 or older.
There's no state in the USA (that I know of) that provides photo ID to anyone under 16 years of age. And there's no "content" that I know of that would be appropriate for someone who's 13 but not for someone who is younger than 13. That makes no sense.
This is yet another attempt by Democrats to exploit children. They're trying to normalize adults networking with children over the internet "just as long as they're at least 13 years old." They're doing it under the guise of "protecting children" when in reality it actually puts children at greater risk of being molested by leftists.
