Hello Everybody,

These are words spoken by a practicing Catholic. One who happens to
be the elected President of the United States. Whether one is religious
or non-religious, the meaning is clear to all. So why would anybody
want to object? What is it that some misguided souls find "repulsive"
or "objectionable" about those who are trans?

Today [March 31] is International Transgender Day of Visibility.
A day that should be celebrated by all, everywhere around this planet.
As well as by those aboard the International Space Station.

The International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is an annual day
of recognition, celebrated around the world on March 31st, which is
dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments and victories of
transgender and gender-expansive people, while simultaneously raising
awareness of the work that is still needed to combat discrimination
and violence.

TDOV was founded in 2009 by US-based transgender activist Rachel
Crandall, a licensed psychotherapist and the Executive Director of
Transgender Michigan, both in reaction to the lack of LGBTQ+ days of recognition for the successes achieved by trans people, as well as the frustration that the only well-known transgender-centered day of
recognition was the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). TDOV is a much-needed day of empowerment, celebrating the lives and achievements
of our transgender and gender-expansive loved ones.

As trans allies, we need always hold space for our trans loved ones,
and recognize their many accomplishments. #TDOV is only one day out
of 365 that gives allies the chance to uplift and celebrate our trans
loved ones.

The issue is not trans or what "their people did to those people."
It was about a nutcase who had seven weapons, including two assault
style weapons, all bought legally, who had murdered six people -
including three children. She was in a doctor's care, and yet had
easy access to guns, which she used, with great effect, and would
have killed scores more had she not been stopped.

So what does it matter if the shooter was a trans, or not a trans?
None whatsoever. A criminal act took place, leaving six people dead.
Seven, if one includes the shooter.

The shooter was a 28-year-old woman with mental problems who was
under a doctor's care. Law enforcement took care of the problem within
seconds upon their arrival at the scene.

The late Don Rickles had act insulting people. I have been to his
shows. Once at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, another time in
Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. And he put on a real show, both times.

Rickles poked fun at everybody. He did it at all his shows. In New
Orleans he made me the butt of one of his insults. All my fault. He
was on a string of insults, insulting Cajuns. So I decided to stand
up and insult him back. In Cajun French. He stopped his monologue,
looked straight at me, and smiled. And then the "King of Insult"
did his thing. Insulted me back. In French. Reminding me that he
and his wife used to live in Paris. I learned my lesson.

At his show in Bay St. Louis he instulted everybody as usual. But
he went one step further. You see, everybody in the audience gets
two free drinks. Part of what they pay for as cost of admission.
Served in plastic cups, for obvious reasons. With security guards
in plain clothes among the audience. Naturally, servers had to be
there to give the drinks to members of the audience. And all the
servers were Puerto Rican.

Don Rickles had loads of fun insulting those Puerto Ricans.
He was so funny that Puerto Ricans were laughing and spilling
the drinks all over the place while handing them out to the
audience.

One of the Puerto Ricans told me after the show he is the nicest
person in the world, and pays really good tips for room service.

I do miss him, and his shows. Wish there were more like him.

But there could only be one Hockey Puck.
