so much you can talk about when the conversation starts "I

I would guess it is the sumer "busy-ness": people spending time
at their cottages, working on outdoor projects, time with
families.. etc.
But then this echo may only interest a select few
since it's about old stuff. I mean, there is only
so much you can talk about when the conversation starts "I

Well, soon, it'll be "the most wonderful time of the year" -- Back To School. <G>
As a side note, an area Hobby Lobby had Christmas stuff up in June.
all the stuff that he remembered growing up...when everything seemed so much cheaper. But, back then, it didn't take as many dollars to buy stuff.

I guess we are an elite group.
I get a chuckle when I head some kid in their teens say
something like "When I was a kid" or "When I was
young". Tell me about it Old Timer. :)
One didn't make as money then then as now as well, thanks to inflation.
I recall making about $200 a month when I started
working full time in 1968. With that amount I rented a
house, brought furniture, food, a car, clothes, etc and
had a little left over. Gas for the house about $3 a
month, electric $2, gas for the car about 33 cents, etc.
While things cost more today, people have higher
incomes. Its a circle. Higher wages mean high prices
since the companies have to pay their people more, etc.

I remember that commercial and thought it was funny.
Until I was working in parking.
I would be asked what I was looking forward to in the new (school)
year and I would reply "when they go away in May".
Starting around Independence Day they would have one or two
Christmas items out. Then bit by bit, a little here, a little there,
and by September their Christmas stuff was out. First s small corner
then like a rash it grew to about about a quarter of the store.

This is the same logic for the "scooter carts" in the stores. I've seen several memes where the battery died...right in the liquor aisle.
We long for when life was slower and simpler.
On campus they have rental bikes. No idea how much they cost. You
get one at a rack and have to pay a hefty fee along with the rental.
When they are returned to a proper place you get that deposit back. Apparently those electric things don't charge a de

Or Doc got tired of reading it and said "That enough of that". :)

I try keeping the lines below 73 characters long because the last part
of my words might get lost if the system it goes through doesn't do a
Line Wrap or CRLF (Carriage Return Line Feed).

Hard work fascinates me. I can watch people work hard all day long.
