    Hello All!

using nano, but i don't try 8bit yet, hehe

nano is supporting idn and utf8, but utf7 would imho be what it should be for fidonet software, i dont exspect utf8 to work stable on amiga ever, its to late to hope it will be solved on amiga, or even on old ms-dos, what can be done is using html will work, but there is no hope any fidonet software will do native html at all :/

    all well ?

    Regards Benny

    Hey Benny!

Your CHRS kludge claims you are using 8bit.

nano is supporting idn and utf8, but utf7 would imho be what it
    should be for fidonet software,

I disagree. utf8 should be the default.

there is no hope any fidonet software will do native html at all

Why? All that will accomplish is bloating text messages with html tags that people like me will filter out. You can count on that. I am still using pure text (utf8) in email. I absolutely hate html email.

If you meant to say using httpd to display msgs then it has long been a done deal although I have yet to see anyone get proper displays working in a textual enviroment such as a 4K display. I have been toying with this idea since viewing a mp4 farmed out to mpv from my links text browser on a 4K monitor deploying the linux terminal. mpv can do this using libdrm for graphical output, with no need for a gui. Also I can split the 4k linux terminal into 4 terminals that are very close to looking like the 80x24 terminals from way back when that was the standard size of a purely textual display. Over the course of almost 40 years, I have never seen anything better, although the Matrox G200 was outstanding in it's time. Things got better I am happy to report.

    all well ?

Little Mikey's Brain lost it's 16 penguin host machine last week. Good thing I had a quad core backup ready to pick up the task. Up to date too, software-wise. This standardized fidonet msg tells the tale.

    i miss my amiga :=)

we can agree to disagree hehe :)

there is no hope any fidonet software will do native html at all

    Why?

if html was used as html without utf8, or crap like quoted printelble on top of html or even utf8 it would be perfect, but as all in microdollers no one care at all

All that will accomplish is bloating text messages with html

    did i say css ? :=)

You can count on that. I
am still using pure text (utf8) in email.

i still say amiga won't help you with that statement

    I absolutely hate html
    email.

me2, especsily when done on maillists, people at ignorants there, try convence gmail users to turn html of ?

just like as link -g giffile.gif is ment to test vga monitors ? :=)

it would have saved energy in in 1970 and forward if that existed at that time, today i have asus σpn50 with less energy consumes then a old quad pentium ii :)

yes i still have the quad pentium ii, hehe, 4 cpu do the max on 1536 bogomips, so equal as a rasberry pie with 1000 times less energi consumes, hmm

    Over the course of
almost 40 years, I have never seen anything better, although the

i had a G200 aswell, lost if it was pci or isa, it would imho be fast like a pentium pro raid card in my quard core pentium ii, silly ibm hardware design

    all well ?

    Hey Benny!

we can agree to disagree hehe :)

We can? Where does it say that in the published standards?

I am still using pure text (utf8) in email.

i still say amiga won't help you with that statement

Tough darts farmer. Amiga is just as dead as DOS and is unlikely to be of any help to the living ... or dead for that matter.

video is not really html is it ?

It is viewed with a browser that has some sort of video attached to the device. Usually an overpriced smartphone running Android or other similar crappy OS these days. :::sigh:::

    i plan on upgrade from pn50 to pn53 :)

Okay. Personally I prefer the Asrock 4x4 with two ethernet ports. My local private network is where I have most of my fun but do appreciate a fast internet connection to assist obtaining the proper sources, such as kernels, glibc, and gcc. 16 penguins is always nice to see on bootup. :-)

but i am just not have the money yet, pn53 is more energy saving
    then pn50

The p52 uses ddr4 up to 64G. I have two 16G sodimms that I need to farm out from the one that got taken out in the last storm. That is the one that caught my eye although I got turned off by the preinstalled Windows it comes with. The Asrock's 4X4s didn't come with an OS which is exactly what I want.

I guess - this should be in LINUX area Rules(?)

I am still using pure text (utf8) in email.

This is also my way - but, all these Teams Invitations - not working (correctly) without html.

In case of fidonet - I do not want to double traffic just because somebody is using html.

No. No conversion. Using Golded+ (see also below).

CrashMail is OK. BinkD is also OK.

Using luit already - due to specific Czech Coding. For ENG echomail using pure something.

One more thing - using fidonet on VPS. (one more element - either Putty or ConnectBot).

In Cz area we already touched that topic. UTF is of course correct direction. But - as you wrote - we are older = we can live with actual setup. (We also are not talking about so many people in general).

    Hej Karel!

    Using Golded+

I noticed that. Personally I prefer msged even though it isn't as fancy as golded. Neither of them can properly handle utf-8 replies. Tsk, tsk.

CrashMail is OK. BinkD is also OK.

    I am using binkd.

    either Putty or ConnectBot

Or a binkp mailer linked to libssh2. I've never used either of the above but have used openssh to transfer fidonet pkts in the past.

    due to specific Czech Coding

I seem to recall us talking about this somewhere before. If not you then some other Czech.
