few large files to my server, the max transfer rate I could get
was 300KiB/s which translates to 2.5Mbps. So, I assume the UL
speed limitation is placed at the server? Fast.com reports
30+Mbps bidirectional.

Anyone else here experience limited/reduced UL speeds during
ftp transfers?

What services provide unrestricted UL speeds?

Yeah.. the minimal offering from acanac.ca is 500Mbps at just about what I am paying for now, but I got roped into an "upgrade" from DSL at 40$/mo, which was limited to 5Mbps. The sales pitch was "get 5 times the speed and unlimited for the same price as your current DSL."

Hey Aug,

So it's could be governed by the server side most so than your fibre
provider. What are you using as your SFTP/FTP server? Are there
Policies/rste limiting on your router for the S/FTP service?

25MB UL/DL is an interesting speed, where in the world are you? In NZ residetial speeds are a minimum of 300Dl 100 UL, and go upto 10gb.

Wow, 8 Gbps would mean you're basically getting an entire XGS-PON to yourself. That can't make commercial sense for the operator unless they're charging you a *lot* for that or just contending the line very heavily.

In practice you could give all the customers on a fibre the full speed, their actual usage would be a fraction of that :)
