Browsing this board from Diamond Mine and it seems the last activity was over 2 years ago... not sure if these boards actually get used anymore!

If any hams are out there, feel free to reply :)
I need to get my TS-820S back on the air! I think the radio is in good shape, I just need to set up an antenna and find an operating position in my apartment. I want to pick up a spare set of final tubes just in case mine ever go out.

We're here and not sure why it shows no activity in two years...what's your callsign?

I have an IC-718 and a IC-706MKII that were both hit by lightning and need repair so I have been off the air since last April. I am hoping to eventually get an IC-7610 for the shack and use the other two radios for mobile use as I love mountain topping--being surrounded by the Appapachian Mountains has its advantages. :D

Excellent! I wish you well and hope you can get it on the first try. I
took ten years going from Tech to General then another ten going to Extra

I'm not really active but I have my license and a small HT that I can
barely reach the local repeater with. I tend to balk at the amount ham
radios cost when you consider how cheap other technology is. I
occasionally use Echolink on my PC and really keep it for emergencies.
I'm a member of the local CERT team.

Also, I doubt that I would use a base station much at home since I'm
    always playing music.

Good luck. Might as well go for your extra while you're at it, it
shouldn't cost anything and you never you, you might get lucky.

Considering the relatively high ROI ham equipment has (I'm talking good
quality here; not the disposable Chinese HTs), it's worth it. I have never paid more than $500 for a HF rig since I buy them used except for my first
HF rig, an ICOM IC-718, for about $650 new.

I have about 20 different 2 meter HTs, from Baofengs to a couple of Motorola Radius models. Probably going to dump them all and just get an ICOM IC-V86
    2 meter HT eventually.
