settlement of what is now Kentucky

18 degrees from James Beckwourth - credited with discovering a new route to central
California during the Gold Rush: from present-day Reno, Nevada, called the Beckwourth
Pass
17 degrees from Jemmy Bird - frontiersman, trader, scout, guide, interpreter
18 degrees from Kit Carson - an American frontiersman and Indian fighter
16 degrees from William Clark - William Clark is widely remembered as an explorer and
for his role as co-leader during the Corps of Discovery, commonly referred to as the
Lewis and Clark Expedition
17 degrees from James Clyman - one of the early Mountain Men of the American West,
most well known for his part in early trapping and exploration expeditions along the
Missouri and Platte Rivers and in what is now Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah
15 degrees from David Crockett - In 1812, David Crockett enlisted as a scout in the
Tennessee militia, represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives, and
served in the 20th US Congress
12 degrees from Louis Jolliet - Along with Jacques Marquette, he was the first non-
indigenous Canadian to explore and map much of the Mississippi River in 1673.
15 degrees from Esther Pariseau - Canadian religious sister who led a mission to the
Pacific Northwest of the United States where under her leadership, they established a
network of schools and healthcare to service the American settlers in that new and
remote part of the country
16 degrees from Pierre Esprit Radisson - a French-Canadian explorer and fur trader
It is always interesting to visit the past to see how we are related to each other. I have
some ancestors that were black, bank robbers, politicians physicians, detectives, actors,
comedians. I guess that I am a collection of all of them, as we ALL are.
