    [Translate]: Hello.

It seems that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow the Russian authorities will turn off the external Internet.

If by chance this channel remains open, please write news from Ukraine.

I do not trust the Russian authorities.

I would like to know what is really going on.

    Thanks

Consider installing Telegram (available for desktops and

country, some fidonet echos may still be accessible via the

The bot even supports messages to and from netmail.

[1] Install Telegram to the device of your choice.

And I thought the prostate check was rough. :P

Let me tell you a real story, and you know all my stories are real ... 8-)

In 2020 I stayed extensively in a hospital with a severe case of Covid19. I still have difficulty describing how bad it was being that sick ... It all started maybe 1 week before heading into the hospital. Someone made a pot of coffee and it tasted horrible. So I dumped it, made a new pot ... and it still tasted horrible ... a kind of no-taste taste. So I threw away the can of ground cofee and opened a newone. It smelled like rotten where-upon my daughter said "Not at all, this smells perfectly fresh" and I dropped the subject. Having lost all sense of smell and taste ... but I did not connect the dots ...

2-3 weeks down the line I was in the hospital sick as hell, caughing a lot and everyday in the morning they asked me "Do you poop alright?" ... having 2 nurses in the family I know that it is a valid question ... being able to poop well is a health indicator.

So in my secluded room, everything went well and 2 weeks into the hospitalisation one morning I cracked one out and suddenly I smelled the odours associated with fresh... shit.

I called my youngest daughter (the nurse) and said "I'm doing well, I can smell shit. I'm coming home baby".

The nurses were elated, my doctors were elated and I think they released me 3-4 days later....

I'm chuckling but I have heard similar stories about COVID.

In my case, my dad had been admitted to the local VA hospital for a minor procedure and came home with a very active case of COVID-19 but no one bothered to test him when he was discharged. He came home and three days later, my mother and I had COVID-19 also.

Thankfully, my mother's and my case of COVID was fairly mild only lasting about 3-4 days of symptoms though my dad struggled with no energy for a few weeks. All of us kept our taste of sense and smell. I had headaches for a few months thereafter and now if I stress myself too hard, I get one of those headaches again.

My daughter's long-time babysitter/friend we just found out was in the hospital in January with severe Covid... nice old Asian lady, religious, total germaphobe, the type that would dress up in biohazard gear if told to do so.

We are both convinced we had it in March 2020 and in December last year... the type and length of sickness was a bit more harsh than just a common cold.

This happening alongside our "shots"... I won't get into my views on this here but had to end a pointless discussion with a family member over getting a booster...

Its really something that's divided us all and that to me is more unfortunate than the illness itself.

    Ward,

Let me tell you a real story, and you know all my stories are real ...
    8-)

    <SNIP!>

The nurses were elated, my doctors were elated and I think they
    released me 3-4 days later....

Now, for my crappy reply to your message...this is the turd one in this thread. <G>

Several years ago in Branson, Missouri...Tom Mullica did a show in tribute to Red Skelton...and you thought Red had come back from the dead...the guy looked, sounded, and acted just like him.

Well, he found out there was a group of nurses in the audience, and he was ecstatic!! He gushed "I'm so thrilled that you're here today, as I've been dying to ask this question!!".

The hall gets dead quiet, and he (looking right at the nurses), asks them "Have we had our bowel movement today??".

It brought the house down in raucous laughter, and the nurses were all as red as tomatoes. <BG>

I've had several hospitalizations over the years (2 last year with being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation), and the main statement is "you can't go home until you go poop". <G> When I was hospitalized for digestive tract issues, they wanted to release me early...and I said "I want to be sure my colon is working before I leave, as it's what brought me in here, with gastrointeritis (nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea). it's not fun to do it out
    of both ends simultaneously).

Nearly 20 years ago, before I became disabled, and had to quit working,
I was helping a female co-worker with a printing job (I had worked in silkscreen printing for almost 20 years). I usually would help put the
printed decals on a rack, but I had to "assume the position -- on my knees"
<G> when the job started, but I was able to stand, as more and more decals
were printed, so I could put them on the rack to dry.

She had lost her first husband to colon cancer, and unfortunately, she remarried too soon after that, and the marriage didn't last. But, one day,
I said to her "Feces Occurs". She looked at me with the proverbial deer
in the headlights look on her face...so when I translated it to $h!+
happens, she howled with laughter...and said "I'm going to tell my sister
that one!!". The next morning, when she walked in, I asked her "Did you
ask your sister??" and "Same reaction??". Both responses were met with a
wildly grinning "yes". <G> She and I were great friends, but she resigned
for another job elsewhere before I resigned due to declining health (my
body wouldn't let me do it anymore)...I have no idea what happened to her.

There was a vehicle involved in a wreck locally years ago, and it flipped
the car on its roof. It has a bumper sticker that was upside down, but when
the car was flipped over, the photo with "$h!+ Happens" was there in color
on the front page of the local newspaper. Maybe it should be "Hit Shappens", and "We're doing this for Gits and Shiggles" <G>.

The stench from the excrement is an indicator that the trillions of the bacteria in your gut are doing their job to digest their food. Things like beans, asparagus (maybe it should be ass-spare-a-gas <G>), cabbage, legumes, etc. will make you flatulate (fart) like mad...and if you have a dog (especially a dachsund), these silent but deadly (SBD) methane fart bombs
    are particularly nasty.

Before my wife died, we were on the Futon, otherwise "intimately occupied", and the dachshund was in his bed on the floor next to us. All of a sudden,
this horrible methane stench permeated our nostrils...the dog had dropped an SBD methane fart bomb!! I started gagging from the stench, and my wife was laughing uncontrollably...saying "You know he's down there, going 'Hee Hee Hee. Ignore my @$$, will you??!!" <G>. So, any lovemaking, etc. went down
the toilet and out the window, as I had to get dressed, and take the weiner
dog out for a potty run. I think we put him in his carrier after that, so
we wouldn't be interrupted again. <G>

There was a commercial several years ago, and I think it was Tractor
Supply Company that did it. To start, the family is at the dinner table,
asking the blessing on the meal that they're about to consume...all of the
gas producing foods. As soon as they say "Amen", the dog leaps out from
under the kitchen table, and runs up the stairs to the bedroom. He gets to this big chest of drawers, and after opening the bottom one, he starts
digging furiously, looking for something. Well, he didn't find what he
wanted in the first drawer, so he opens the second one, and starts digging again...still nothing. Luckily, the third time was the charm...he found
what he was looking for...a gas mask!! <G> So, he puts it on, runs down the stairs, gets back under the kitchen table, and contentedly lies down.

Then, the announcer calmly says "We have what you need". <G>

Everyone farts and poops...on the farting, from as little as 15 times a
day, to as much as 20 times an hour. I wonder how much of our tax money was used to determine that?? They were going to do a study on second hand flatulence, but they couldn't get any volunteers. And, after you've been
run over by a steam roller, they send a flatulance to pick you up...but the ride really stinks. There are no shock absorbers in these vehicles, as you
can run over a quarter in the street, and tell whether it is heads or tails.

With the bowel movements, what is "normal" varies from person to person... but if you go more than 3 days without a BM, that is too long, and it can
lead to constipation. Also, folks who sit on the toilet, in a chair, or in
a vehicle seat driving for a long time, who are overweight, or women who
have babies, are likely to get hemorrhoids...which are a real PITA. <G>

Colon cancer is the second greatest killer right behind heart disease
and breast cancer, but it's one of the most preventable. Admittedly, the
prep work is a bummer, with no solid food the day before (clear liquids
only), and practically nonstop diarrhea for 12-18 hours beforehand, which
is followed by an enema. But, if you don't thoroughly clean out your colon beforehand, you'll have to do the prep work again, and this time, pay the expensive cost of it. Afterwards, you will have a lot of gas, joining all
the others "in the wind section".

Too bad that we can't convert that to our vehicles (gasoline jumped 70
cents a gallon in Arkansas in the last week). If we could, I'd order a
palatte of Bush's Baked Beans, ask Duke for the secret formula, and tell
OPEC what they could do with their gas prices. <G>

We have enough oil under our soil in the US, to help lower the fuel prices...but the environmentalists are more concerned about the bovine flatulence and climate than the economy. For that matter, as noted earlier, every creature farts and poops.

As Jeff Foxworthy noted in one of his skits, "the kids are coming out of diapers, and the grandparents are going into them". His skit on his colonoscopy (you can find it on YouTube) is an absolute scream. A few of
    the highlights are as follows:

    1) He downs all the fluids for the prep work, that was meant to be done
over 6 hours in just under 10 minutes. His stomach starts making funny
noises, sounding like the fireplace in The Amityville Horror. Then, his underwear tapped him on the shoulder, and said "Run!!".

    2) He passed everything he had eaten in his entire life...plus things he
had thought of eaten, things the neighbors had eaten, and a red bicycle
in the garage. Several hours later, what was coming out of him was classed
    as "mountain spring water". :P

    3) Afterwards, he was ready to go home, but the nurse told him he had to
"give back all the air they pumped into him", and "I have to verify that you do it". He notes "I went to career day in high school. Nobody told me that
you could get paid good money for rating farts on a clipboard. I've got friends who do that all the time for free". He adds "She wants me to do this, and I need to do this. But, I was raised in the south, and my Momma taught me NEVER to do that in front of a woman...especially in front of a woman you don't know". He laments "I lock up"...so she has him get down on all fours in the bed, and he knew it'd work. He said he thought of his wife's LaMaz (sp?) childbirth class, and "the big push". He said "what came out of me was so loud, and so long, that Fred Flintstone clocked out of work!!". He asked the nurse if he could go home, and she said "Please do". <G>

I heard of a case at a store, where this girl and her boyfriend were, and
he lets out this loud fart, and says her name, as if was HER who did it (when it was actually him). She started crying, and ran out of the store. She should have ended the relationship right then, for his insensitivity.

And, $h+! isn't dirty...it's an acronym for either "Ship High In Transit",
or "So Happy It's Thursday"...especially if you have Friday (or fart day)
or Saturday ($h!++erday) off from work. <G>

After getting diagnosed with IBS and other issues 20 years ago, my
wife asked "You want me to bring your computer and ham radio stuff into
the bathroom?? You seem to spend so much time in here!!" :P

So, with that, I'll make a sewer pipe, and get the $h!+ out of there. <G>

My wife freaks-out over spiders ... really ... tiny little critter less than half the size of a pinky-finger and she stands on a chair screaming "Kill the beast, it's gonna eat me" ...

I always tell her that spiders mainly predate on other tiny insects and actually keep the house free from other bugs ... She doesn't believe me.

Did you know btw that spiders are related to crabs? If you smash enough spiders, cram them in a pan and cook 'm salted you get crab meat. I bet you're now going to look entirely different at a can of crab meat ... 8-)

Same for moths, take away the food source and you take away the problem ... breed canary birds and let them fly around the house, they'll eat the moths ... eat and be eaten ... OK, they might shit on your head. So wut?

    But yes, "it's" a problem... 8-)

So, you can definitely understand why my French isn't quite as good as my english...

My Canadian experiences are mainly limited to BC and Alberta which is english=speaking as can be. My very first time there in Waterton AB my friends took me to a bar and said "Well, they speak french in Canada,
will you do the ordering? You speak french.." .... to make a long story short, that didn;t work

LOL! (^_^) Yeah, I grew up in BC, so I know what you're talking about. In the west, it's pretty rare indeed to meet someone who is fluent in French.
However, the story is very different in eastern Canada. After all, it's a really long walk between Vancouver and Quebec City.

Terry Fox certainly would agree! For reference, he's a Canadian folk hero, tried to walk across Canada to raise funds for cancer research, after losing
a leg to the very same. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Fox

Other than that when on business meetings in Montreal I could barely understand the Canuck version of french, also when I linked-up with Nick in Quebec City.

I did hint that our version of 'le langue d'amour' was different. There's a reason I dropped that hint. (o_-)

But, that is to be expected, if you think about it. After all, it was a very long time ago when Canada was settled. Since then, the mixing of languages would obviously have an effect.

It shows up in our english too, sometimes. For instance, our fondness for saying 'eh?' very likely could have been the result of simply asking our
French neighbours to repeat themselves too often... (o_-)

Another example, I feel certain that no other country would call a corner
store a 'dep'...I know Nick would get that reference!

When I was six years old (in the mid 70s), my family and I were living in
the tiny German town of Buren in Westphalia, Germany, near a NATO post. It
was decided that I had to have my tonsils, adenoids, and some polyps in my nasal canal removed.

I was sent to a Flemish-speaking hospital where they did excellent work on
me but they had to send me home early as I refused to eat because I was very homesick. My mother tells me that the Flemish staff went out of their way
to secure American brand food for me, such as Jell-O and Campbell's Bean and Bacon Soup but I refused to eat.

I do not have a lot of memories about that time but I do remember their speaking Flemish and I tried to understand the best I could.

On a side note, I did later visit the Netherlands and some of my favorite memories of that time were walking on a dyke, visiting working windmills,
and visiting Keukenhof. I would like to visit Keukenhof again someday.

Yes.... what I meant was "do most Canucks speak French"? My
understanding was that it was mostly only used in the Quebec province,

That's not quite accurate, but not completely wrong. It's kind of a thing, up in QC, if you speak english, so basically everything is French there
(Montreal is an exception, as is Hull, the other half of Ottawa). You'd be surprised how many Ontarians speak it, too, since we're neighbours and all. This also applies to Labrador (combined with Newfoundland to make a single province), and Manitoba, which also have large francophone populations.

The thing is, the population of Ontario and Quebec alone makes up for 60%
(or more) of Canada's total. So...it's possible that most Canucks do indeed speak French regularly. I don't think that number has actually been counted, though, so I will stick with my correction. Most 'eastern' Canucks speak French. (The maritime provinces only come up to 6% of the total...)

FYI, these percentages were based on the 2016 census, as reported on
    Wikipedia:

Both French and Spanish are Romance languages and if you can speak one, you can generally understand the other. Quebec French is its own animal. :D

Hey! There's a Buscuit Leclerc ("Leclerc Cookies") factory in my town. Coincidence, or connection?

The same company. At the time I worked for them they had four factories in the US (two in Kingsport, TN, which is near me; one in Montgomery, PA; and another in Phoenix, AZ; the two in Kingsport were my "home office") and I was the IT tech for all four. I left because they weren't paying me enough to cover all four factories.

And there are funny differences in interpretations and meaning, for example the sentence "Ik heb juist goed gepoept" in Flemish means "I just had great sex" and in the Netherlands means "I just had a good shite"..... 8-)

Really? I mean, Portugese, sure...but Italian? That's closer to Spanish than French? I find that a little hard to believe. However, I am only barely able

Can you give any examples, Carlos? Enquiring minds want to know.

Italian and Portuguese are closer to Spanish.

Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian are all Romance
languages, meaning they come from Vulgar ("common") Latin and share common roots. I do not speak French nor Italian though I do speak a bit of
Spanish--I took a semester of it while in high school in 1987--and with that knowledge, I have found it easy to understand French and Italian better. I have no experience with Portuguese and Romanian but I suppose if I tried, I could probably do the same thing.

While your points about those languages being different, they indeed do
share a lot in common and if you understand that, you can make out the jist
of what is being said in all three languages. Like (most) computer
languages to me, the semantics are the same but the syntax is different.

I unfortunately lost my "tongue" for Spanish as I had no one to converse in Spanish with though I think with a bit of effort, I could bring myself back
up to at least to a conversational level. French, to me, is overly
complicated for the sake of being different. <G> Spanish has always been
easy to speak for me because it tends to follow its own rules better than English.

Being a native English speaker, it can be difficult for me to learn other languages, especially Japanese or Mandarin Chinese (both of which I have attempted to learn but failed to do so).

However, my original point still stands for me as I can figure out phrases
and keywords in both French and Italian and make a semi-educated guess to what's going on. This is reading those languages; if they are being spoken
to me, I get lost very quickly.

Hell, yes, it is! There's no need to decide between masculine and feminine
when talking about a table! It has no gender!

Being a native English speaker, it can be difficult for me to learn other languages, especially Japanese or Mandarin Chinese (both of which I have attempted to learn but failed to do so).

The only languages I've ever found easy to learn are those used exclusively
by computers. In many ways, they're far simpler than any human language.

However, my original point still stands for me as I can figure out
phrases and keywords in both French and Italian and make a semi-educated guess to what's going on. This is reading those languages; if they are being spoken to me, I get lost very quickly.

That's about how I am, in spoken French. I can follow along more or less, if the speaker isn't rushing or mumbling, but I'd have to respond in english. My written French is much better.
