Hmm. It is a well known "Vkontakte" messenger and video is there. Maybe, if you tried to see it at your office you could meet the messenger blocking - a very usual policy now in many offices, at least in Russia now. You can try Tor browser - it still allows watch what you like to.

Fake news, Sasha-boy :) You're just like our old idiot Putin - telling absolute bollocks every time you open your gob :)

    1. I am not poor - I'm doing alright actually, especially compared to you ;)
    2. I am not crazy - Russia officially allows me to have weapons :)
    3. I am always telling the truth and you're constantly parroting Russian propaganda, which is so badly made that only old idiots in Russia believe it :)
    4. I am not a provocateur - it's your lovely Putin's regime that's created a situation where you can get jailed up for 10 years just for saying something in favour of Ukraine!

main mean of communication for the Russian people and their relatives abroad, voice calls including.

Fake news again :) Only tech-illiterate people use it when they've got no other option - I'm personally giving VPN access to hundreds of Russians (for free) to use WhatsApp and Signal, because VKontakte messages can be bought from corrupt FSB officers for a fistful of dollars ;))

You have obviously misunderstood the purpose of this echo. Please

You have clearly misunderstood the purpose of your existence!

As Churchill declared: "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"(C).

If you have personally chosen to capitulate to disinformation and falsehoods and allowed the English language to cease being the language of Freedom - that is your personal choice, not the choice of others who wield this language in the fight for truth!

Canada has evidently become a refuge for the lily-livered! Meanwhile, the UK remains steadfast and resolute.

So let me instruct you in proper British English, rather than the insipid North American dialect of Canada.

    Best regards,

    Amazing!

And if I may say something about English - I was amazed by the enormous amount of terms used to describe different sea regions. We have almost zero analogues in Russian - the British were in fact great sailors:

    Trade Winds
    Roaring Forties
    Furious Fifties
    Screaming Sixties
    Horse Latitudes
    Doldrums
    Westerlies
    etc.

    Or the classical:

The sun is over the yardarm.

    My favorite ;)

Nothing even close exists in the Russian language.

Nope -- my employer does not employ any such blocking. The
problem is that these "apps"[1] are what I call web-trash,
authored by web-destroyers. They only work in major browsers,
and even then stop working as soon as you skip a few updates

In the way of messengers, I should consider IRC (+ZNC),
deltachat, and mailing lists (e.g. GNU Mailman2). Failing those,
there are "contemporary" solutions, such as the XMPP protocol.

For privacy and anonymity, I recommend:

    GNUPG : <https://gnupg.org/> and
    OmniMix: <https://danner-net.de/omd.htm>

There are builds of GPG that still work on my Windows XP,
and my mail client (Sylpheed) has excellent integration
    with gpg (GnuPG) 1.4.9 (Gpg4win 1.1.4) . Omnimix supports
    Windows XP as well.

Yes, I am using it with some bridges I recevied in response to
an e-mail to bridges@torproject.org . But then again, this Tor
Browser is based on Firefox, so it is not updating on older
versions of Windows, even post-XP. I am also using SOCKS5
proxies with browsers, e-mail, IRC, and Usenet clients, because
our blessed govt. are blocking or throttling all my IRC, NNTP,
SSH, and IMAP connections (except Gmail!).

(I was impressed to see the PGP SIGNATURE ;-))

I agreed that after the programmers gave up smoking their programs started demand constant bug removing and updating. I remember the time when the smokers made good operating systems in assembler codes! ;-)

But as a Russian proverb says "If you live among wolves you should howl like them." ;-) The the world is not perfect, but surely there are some people who are not very bad, and you can make some efforts and use the modern means of communication software. :)

Vkontanke like Facebook is not just a messenger -- it creates your own space in the Internet where you can post different materials for the wide auditory. You can make friends, join different groups etc.

Well, but I don't need any additional privacy or anonymity. At least unless I start a big political activity. ;-) But, IMHO, from another side -- any anonymous opinion worths much less than an opinion of a concrete person.

NNTP you use when you use Tommy's fidogate. Tor indeed is based on Firefox, but it works well at least on Windows 7, even if it tells that there are no more updates available on this operation system.

I use my desktop only for old things, FIDO, for instance or CBuilder -- my old friend ;-). If I need bank applications and something like that I use modern smart phones and update the important apps often. And I recommend you that, too.
