      Title: Dal (Thick Legume Gravy Served On Rice)

      Yield: 4 Servings
 
      1 c  Toor dal
    1/8 ts Urad dal
    1/4 ts Cumin seed
      1 tb Coconut milk
      2 c  Water
      1 sm Onion; chopped
           Salt; to taste
      1 pn Turmeric
    1/8 ts Mustard seeds
 
  Cook toor dal in water. The dal is cooked as soon as it becomes soft
  and mushy. This can take between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the
  type of dal (lentils) or beans. Add cumin seed, turmeric, and salt,
  then coconut milk. Fry the onion, mustard seeds, and urad dal. When
  urad dal turns golden brown, stir it into the cooked toor dal. Stir
  well.
