    Still, he contributed much, directly and indirectly to our hobby/life/ professions.

    ... Amiga made it possible. Commodore made it dead.

    Still, he contributed much, directly and indirectly to our hobby/life/ professions.

    That he did and I'm grateful for it. He had a much bigger impact in the UK than in the US but I did own a ZX81 and a T/S 1000--which I still have with a 16K RAM cartridge and the original owner's manual--that got me started. The computer that I started actively programming on was my CoCo 2.

    I guess it depends on where you lived and your circumstances...

    Back then I would have liked to have a Vic-20 with its colours, sound and great keyboard, but Commodore computers were expensive over here (I was a teenager with a limited budget).

    When the Vic-20 appeared I was banging away at a TRS-80 Model 1. The
    Sinclair and the Commode Door were priced similarly here. The expensive
    toy was Apple which was overpriced by a factor of 10. That's still true
