    Hi,

What is F-PROT antivirus ? because it's new for me, Andy?

F-Prot is the antivirus software originally from Frisk Software
and it was very good with nearly daily updates .. i used it for
more then 20 xears and unfo they finish their company and research
    now ..

So, like many others, she is finished i believe due to small money
involved and too much competiton. We liked it as it was not hindering
and getting slow the PC when being in underground ..

Let's see the new one if it works fine ;)

    ciao

I'm not sure...it has been so long since I used it.

I have noted that each of these anti-virus programs are very
"territorial", and they consider "competing anti-virus programs"
as "an active threat" for the database files. However, I've noted
that the virus utility from Sophos works well with these programs.

    Dennis,

Avast is now GEN as of last week.

About the time we get to know something, it changes...

That's why they want to us to spend money we don't have on
items we don't need, and can't afford.

Microsoft Windows is a perfect example. They are ending
support for Windows 10 in October, 2025, and that also kills
support for anything 32-bit or less (they already ended any
support for Windows 8 and below).

I can NOT see discarding perfectly good working hardware and
software, just to satisfy the corporate greed of Microsoft's
bottom line...especially when I'm disabled and on a fixed income.

Most folks will likely not worry about security updates for
Windows 10 after October, 2025...or likely go to Linux.

    Daryl
