Greetings All!


Kind of a odd question, I finally got linux running on my NUC (unbuntu) and I have SBBS installed (DEV) all is fine, all the directions/videos I have seen of instructions on setup SBBS show like echocfg etc configuration windows with blue backround and white text, mine is black backround with white text. Brand new linux install so I have not changed any color preferences or themes, not running dark mode etc. Is this normal? Have I missed some setting to change the color of SBBS configuration windows? The example screens I have seen with the blue are a lot more appealing to the eye.

Yes, I noticed this too recently. It looks a lot like the old RA or FD setup.

I don't know if that is by design or..?

Check your terminal settings, your TERM environment variable.

Check your terminal settings, your TERM environment variable.

Thank you for your reply. After some reading I think I know what you mean, were you referring to like TERM xterm-256color? If so on my debian setup (sbbs looks normal) when I type echo $TERM I get xterm-256color, oddly on the unbuntu (sbbs works, just looks funny) I get the exact same response xterm-256color? As far as I have read you can set TERM to either xterm, or xterm256color/ I changed unbuntu to xterm-color and it sort of improved it but not fully. Am I running down the right road with what you suggested?

You can set TERM to hundreds of values:
$ find /usr/share/terminfo | wc
2739 2739 85805

But the correct value depends on the terminal you're using. If it's not xterm, then "xterm*" is probably not correct.

It could be an issue with the theme colors applied for your terminal
emulator program as well... these won't line up with the original DOS
color pallete, and most likely with be the xterm/linux defaults,
solarized or another variation.
