• Down-Voting 1000/1000

From The Millionaire@VERT to Digital Man on Fri Sep 25 06:25:11 2020
Hi Dm. I think it's a little extreme to have a 1000 votes. Maybe the number should be limited to 100 max instead? I'm seeing a lot of my messages of 1000 being down-voted and it's very annoying to get hammered with like a 1000 telegram messages and takes a while to get rid of them because of it. Thanks. Can I turn off the telegram option in my settings on your bbs?

No, but I think you can delete the message(s) that are being disliked so often.

Where do I go on your BBS to do this?

Normally, it would be the (D)elete option from the Reading Message menu, but it work because I don't allow users to delete messages:
    Users Can Edit Posts No

An easier way would likely be to be a little more discerning in your posts so that they didn't generate such a visceral reaction to so many people here. *Shrugs* your mileage may vary.

Well that's a really dubious, questionable, and generally unlikely claim. Likewise, even if it were true, frequency of an action does not directly indicate skill at that action. This message is kind of a prime example of what I'm talking about. I have no particular ill will towards you but merely point out that whenever some one makes a claim that "everyone else is the problem" it's rarely the case and usually a good opportunity to self examine.

How about an option to delete all messages by name? That would be way easier I think.

When I ran GT Power software, there was a utility called Spotkill. The
Sysop could kill messages by sender, receiver, or subject, during nightly maintenance.

Also, unlike the FTN message networks, GT Power's system of Echomail was
far superior. The moderator or system of the "sponsored echo" would have
all echomail routed to the sponsoring system, or where the moderator or
Sysop was FIRST. If the message didn't pass muster, as it were, it was
deleted. Otherwise, it would be permitted to echo out through the entire network. Sadly, there isn't much of a GT Power Network left, and I believe
that Mike Powell is the only one running it, doing so under OS/2.

With FTN Networks, numerous systems can see "violative messages" before
the moderator does. While the moderator can issue warnings or feed cuts,
the violator ususally finds another BBS carrying the echo, and continues
the rants there. But, that penalizes all the other users who "play by the
    rules of the echo".

There's never a can of RAID when you need one.

My favorite RAID commercial was one where the roach is
walking, and gets below the letters spelling out RAID.

Suddenly, a stop sign comes out from below the R, stopping
the roach in his tracks. He snarls, turns around, and starts
going the other way. Then, another stop sign comes out from
below the D. When each stop sign appears, a "ding" from a bell
    sounds.

Now, you have the roach under the letters A and I of RAID,
and a STOP sign below the R and D of RAID. Suddely, the stop
signs swing back and forth wildly, with repeated bells...
mimicking the old wig-wag railroad crossing warning devices.
Then, a railroad track comes under the roach, and he's looking
    about confused.

Then, you hear a whoosh, and see the letters and stop sign
blow up, as a "speeding train" passes through, and zaps the
roach. Never mind Wile E. Coyote in the Road Runner cartoons.

Really? What doesn't make sense there above (besides the fact
that you snipped out much of the relevant context)?

You had stated (and snipped) that "I know how to write messages".

I said (right there above) that you clearly don't.

I'd say this message of yours that I'm replying to now pretty much
    proves my point. Wouldn't you?
