WWIV was the exception not the rule. MOST bbs softwares out there would break the ansi with bad CRLF problem.

I had always assumed that all BBS platforms could display ANSI. Especially since it was so huge back in the day.

WWIVnet had the famous "ANSI Art Gallery" sub which would get loads of posts daily of all ANSI artwork.

    Mark,

I had always assumed that all BBS platforms could display ANSI. Especially W>since it was so huge back in the day.

Michael Arnett and so many others were "ANSI experts". For a
short time, OutWorld Arts had artpacks of ANSI and RIP Graphics, and I
have those in the ANSI and RIP Graphics files area on the BBS.

WWIVnet had the famous "ANSI Art Gallery" sub which would get loads of posts W>daily of all ANSI artwork.

GT Power software had a door called "The Smile Door", which benefitted
the "Make A Kid Smile" project, so many of the ANSI screens in there
were "proprietary". But, some of them were also animated, and could play
    music through the PC's speaker.

I don't think any of the doors' original door authors are still
around, but I don't know if I could do a workaround or not to make it
    run under SBBS or not.
