I'd sorta been prodding at this for awhile. Gathering media (Ripping, inquiring, etc) and testing out Jellyfin.
Long term I do want to try getting my family to get an HD Home Run, but
that is a 'for later.'
Pilot program.
One stick to use first on my monitor to work the bugs out then later on
their bedroom tv.
Jellyfin for local media, and their streaming services. put it in place
of where the cable box is. I want to see what the gaps are and where
things break.
The stick I'm using is an amazon fire 4k plus purely because it was on
sale andI know it runs jellyfin so 'even if the net is down there is a
fallback position'
And since the drive i had been ripping to was both old and small (500GB
laptop drive from god alone knows when,) grabbed a 2TB drive to...
continue the work with.
I realize the tv stick is non optimal. But for a pilot program i feel
it is 'good enough.'
Though I will want to during testing see how it responds to ADB gutting
ad services, disabling automated updates, and the like.
