Welcome! (I believe we have exchanged messages in Tildeverse IRC's #offthegrid channel before)
I came to know of NNTP Netnews for quite some time, but I haven't used it until I first connected to Tildeverse Netnews too.
I'm trying to explore the social part of unix/linux sytems.
UNIX started out as a timesharing system, so it was originally a communal way of using a computer. It was only after the advent of personal computer
and mainstream Internet access that these became ghost factory towns. [1]
Thank you for giving me a place on ~pink
Greetings from Tilde.club. [2] Technically, both Tilde.pink
and Tilde.institute are currently not participating
in Tildeverse Netnews yet; but this is what public gateway is for.
Have a good day!
Likewise, and see you around.
Cheers,

[2] Fun fact: `news.tildeverse.org` is actually an alias of `tilde.club`, which acts as a public gateway for Tildeverse Netnews.

It was on a whim that I decided to explore gemini and found out about ~pink Unix systems may have become ghost factory towns but they feel better than the rest of the overcrowded web.

You used TIN to reply to Netnews, right?yes!
Note that replying key in TIN can be a bit counterintuitive: pressing `r` wouldn't really post your reply to Netnews: it would send an _email_ replyYes, I was confused where did my reply go.. haha
to the parent poster directly instead (meaning only me would see the reply); which this is what I think it was not what you intended to do.
A correct way to make TIN actually post a reply to Netnews is pressing `f` ("follow-up") instead.
Full information on this is available in TIN's in-program help, thanks, I'll read it!
accessible using `h` key while viewing a Netnews article
Within next few days, I would try to graft your original reply emailsure, thanks!
back into the news spool too (no need to re-send your original reply);
if you don't have any particular objection that is.
