I'm not sure there's a great value in merging the two since they

from my humble point of view, i don't think it's a matter of technical function.
BBJ is a little place where people from tilde.town can meet and share
about tilde.town and, more important, about themselves. it's like the
local neighborhood bar, where you meet with your local friendly
neighbors, and where you speak about the... yes, local neighborhood.
and i'm pretty sure that every pubnix server has this kind of software
which meet the same goal.
the thing is that, like many others recent pubnix, tilde.town is a
safe, non-judgemental, and respectful place. so when you speak with
your neighbors in tilde.town, you know they'll have some state of open-mindedness.
BBJ is closed to the outside, yes, and anyone from tilde.town knows
that. and i'd like to add that some people might see in this state a
way of being "free" to speak, "free" to express themselves like they
truly are inside. because it's closed, they don't fear their nickname
will be associated with something said that could be difficult to
express outside. again, because tilde.town is a safe, non-judgemental,
and respectful place.
sometimes, what somebody say to the tilde.town neighborhood in BBJ is
not meant to be said to the world. yes, i'm speaking of sexuality,
genre, emotional states, etc. if you have browsed some old topics on
BBJ, you already know it. and we all are aware that the outside world
is not a safe place for some of us to express those things without
going to warfare.
because of that, BBJ has no sense outside of tilde.town and furthermore
it is not meant to be accessible worldwide. or, if it were, it'll be
"felt" different, like any other public forum you can browse online.
tildenews is totally public and openly accessible. tildenews is still
a little thing, and it's a safe place because all people here are
respectful. i really hope it'll stay that way but, yet, it's totally
open to the world; you don't need to register, you don't need to be
part of some tilde community to access it. actually an outsider bot
can scan it without a problem. what we say here *is* public and
totally accessible by anyone.
please, don't get me wrong. i'm really happy to see bridges being
built between all the pubnix around--like what was made with irc for
tildeverse for instance. i'm really happy to see that tildenews is
growing and allows sharing between various pubnix users. but tildenews
is public and some things needs to stay separate from the open world.
in this sense, i trully think that bridging BBJ to tildenews would
break BBJ's bubble of safeness and privacy.
thanks for reading me and sorry for my bad english.
