• Linking up with SDF?

    From Laurens@lkh@is.invalid to tilde.meta on Mon Jun 6 08:43:08 2022
    Hi everyone,

so the tildeverse and SDF seem to have a common denominator. A lot
of us seem to have accounts on SDF and on one or more tilde servers.
As user yeti put it on tilde.chat:#sdf "*we* are the common
    denominator" (emphasis mine).

How about linking up the communities by adding the sdf.* hierarchy to news.tilde.club and vice versa adding the tilde.* hierarchy to SDF's
    news server?

(Just an idea ... I'm totally lacking the technical insight how this
    would be implemted)

    Cheers,

    Laurens

I would be happy to peer with SDF. If the admins on that end are
interested as well I will accept sdf.* and send tilde.* their way from cosmic.voyage.

One thing you might want to watch is that sdf.general is bridged to
Usenet on at least the Aioe server. So there may be a risk that if
the tilde.* groups get added at SDF they might also automatically
start appearing on Usenet news servers if the SDF admins aren't
clear that tilde.* prefers to be separate.

Though it's also possible that the sdf.general bridge isn't
    official anyway.

Traffic on both hierarchies (sdf.* and tilde.*) has quieted down
notably. Maybe it's time to pick up this idea again. Sharing
hierarchies between tildeverse and sdf-verse might raise interest again.

I'll see if I can find out, who's got a say in netnews over on sdf.

    Cheers,

Let's just try to negotiate out that connections with posting rights are
given to users of tilde nodes too (seems to be done by address) and
leave it to the users to put one or more servers into their client
    setup.
