I heard deepend is communicating with NASA, QAnon and the Grays to breed hybrid lizard people with mind control powers. Also that the Bills are involved! How can we stop him?

But seriously, what's new all? I'm not using GNUs, just Icedove. Do any
    of y'all use Linux?

    Heh.

    But seriously, what's new all?

What I just noticed is Tildeverse Netnews have gone from the state
where traffic was basically one or two new messages per week
(stats of September last year); to the point that half-dozen new posts
appeared while I was typing a reply to one of them (stats of today).

    I'm not using GNUs

Well, that's fine, not everyone use Emacs. (For the record:
Gnus is a newsreader implemented as an Emacs application)

I have seen people here participated with SLRN, TIN, Alpine,
or even Mozilla Thunderbird (a la Debian Icedove).

You can even type in your post with Netcat too,
if you know your way around NNTP specifications and USENET message format. (Admittedly, I only did that twice: when I helped ~deepend
fix the netnews server on Tilde.club, and the other time
when I was trying to get around netnews peering connection problem
    between Tilde.club and cosmic.voyage)

For normal days, I'm personally using Alpine (see below).

Do any of y'all use Linux?

I'm posting this reply from Alpine running on Tilde.club (which runs
Fedora GNU/Linux, amd64) in an SSH session made from my 8-years old laptop, with a post content that is drafted under MATE Pluma text editor
running on the same laptop. My laptop is running Debian GNU/Linux (i386)
    as the main OS, with FreeDOS as side bare-metal multiboot OS;
also with Android-x86, FreeBSD, and older version of Debian
in VirtualBox under my beck and call.

And no, I don't use smartphone.

Using GNU/Linux and libre software for me is not for $DAYJOB, adventure, funsies, or coolness; it is about reclaiming my digital rights,
consumer rights, autonomy on computing, and my responsibilities
to the society and the planet.

    Regards,
    ~xwindows

    Those poor lizard people!

I use ubuntu at home and on cosmic, and I prefer SLRN as my client for
net news. It's nice that there's still quite a few options that work.

    Hi hi!!

I'm using Gnus because... it's fun and I use Emacs anyway :P But of
course, to each their own :)

I use Linux at home, Artix (non-systemd Arch). I've thought about
switching to BSD, but who knows if that'll ever happen. I've used a ton
    of different distros.

At work, I'm stuck on Windows, without Admin -- but I've hacked a usable
system together that runs in my home directory. A little %HOME% away
    from $HOME, hehe.

That can be real rough. I had a portable copy of putty in a dropbox
folder for years just in case I ended up like that. I could grab that
and run it and ssh to a vps to do actual work. :P

LOL, yes!!! Basically that, except I can't even use SSH b/c work blocks
    it too :'(

Ah it reminds me of my grad school days. Back then I had the habbit of
going to some random lab full of win machines, downloading Putty
portable and ssh into my Ubuntu work station which is sitting in the
grad students shared "office", and starting to work. I felt more
productive working "remotely" this way than sitting among a room full of
grad students chatting to each other... early days of "open office" and "working remtely" ;)

At that time Canonical (the company behind Ubuntu) allowed you to
request free Ubuntu CDs for free. The first one I got was 7.04 I
believe. That was how I first got exposed to Linux, vim, and
    programming.

Anyways, putty is awesome esp. the portable version. However later I
switched to mintty that comes with msys2, which is awesome Linux
    subsystem on Wins BTW.

New.. got in a accident and then got my truck repaired. So not much new.
    Still busy as ever.

    Do any
    of y'all use Linux?

Is there any other option. Like really? ;)

I run Debian on the desktop though I am contemplating moving to an
Ubuntu distro since I find myself using things that are not in Deb10
fairly often and it's not like I need server-level stability on my
    desktop machine.

I've been using Thunderbird to read the newsgroups but we recently
switched from self-hosting mail to Fastmail, and I decided I like the
web app better than Thunderbird so I should probably consider a
standalone newsreader now. (Especially because clearly I don't open
    Tbird often now.)

Debian for my personal laptop, Fedora for $dayjob.

    Cheers :)

That's so great that your $dayjob lets you use Linux. I'm about to
start a new position .. I wonder if they'll let me.

    I'm not holding my breath.

I'm beginning at an online marketing firm, where I'll be writing copy
for online advertisements and blog posts for clients. Many of them are
car dealerships. Apparently it's a lot of Toyota copy, lol.

It's more ... creative, so I saw people with Macs at least, but I'm not
sure if Linux is going to be something they're into. Though they do
most work through Google Docs it looks like, which would mean the OS
    doesn't matter. Hm.

    I guess we'll see :)

    Best of luck there!

I've been sneaking *nix operating systems and software wherever they will
fit for years. Got through my entire undergrad without Windows at a public university (so much for the "but you NEED it" argument). Grad school was similar. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Hell yes! I've been using Unix or Unix-duct-taped-onto-Windows since
.. oh about 2009. Keep up the good fight!!!
