I heard deepend is communicating with NASA, QAnon and the Grays to breed hybrid lizard people with mind control powers. Also that the Bills are involved! How can we stop him?
Heh.
But seriously, what's new all?
What I just noticed is Tildeverse Netnews have gone from the state
where traffic was basically one or two new messages per week
(stats of September last year); to the point that half-dozen new posts
appeared while I was typing a reply to one of them (stats of today).
I'm not using GNUs
Well, that's fine, not everyone use Emacs. (For the record:
Gnus is a newsreader implemented as an Emacs application)
I have seen people here participated with SLRN, TIN, Alpine,
or even Mozilla Thunderbird (a la Debian Icedove).
You can even type in your post with Netcat too,
if you know your way around NNTP specifications and USENET message format. (Admittedly, I only did that twice: when I helped ~deepend
fix the netnews server on Tilde.club, and the other time
when I was trying to get around netnews peering connection problem
between Tilde.club and cosmic.voyage)
For normal days, I'm personally using Alpine (see below).
Do any of y'all use Linux?
I'm posting this reply from Alpine running on Tilde.club (which runs
Fedora GNU/Linux, amd64) in an SSH session made from my 8-years old laptop, with a post content that is drafted under MATE Pluma text editor
running on the same laptop. My laptop is running Debian GNU/Linux (i386)
as the main OS, with FreeDOS as side bare-metal multiboot OS;
also with Android-x86, FreeBSD, and older version of Debian
in VirtualBox under my beck and call.
And no, I don't use smartphone.
Using GNU/Linux and libre software for me is not for $DAYJOB, adventure, funsies, or coolness; it is about reclaiming my digital rights,
consumer rights, autonomy on computing, and my responsibilities
to the society and the planet.
Regards,
~xwindows
