who have captured the civilian governments. Things are going to get interesting.

2 years ago somebody started sending mass homosexual spam to
Australian groups. This had affected the whole USENET.
Afterwards most of free servers were shut down or converted to
read only.
I think this happened to aioe.org finally.

In fact it is 20+ years old. It disappeared recently, then resurected being cut from other nntp network. Now it seems to be working fine. But you are right,
it have lost 90% of content.

People (by which I mean one particular being) are now starting to try to
attack ALL IRC networks in order to try to make people not use IRC, or
at least make IRC annoy them, making massive pings, ascii art accross
all of a network's channels, etc...
So I guess somebody will intentionally work on destroying ANY
communications system, as communicating with other people is a way to
join people, thus making it harder to change their minds and think what
someone wants, as they all will be able to see different viewpoints.

might be a bit out of date, but from what I know aioe.org was taken
down by a hardware failure followed by health issues of the admin.
