WW SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS --- INTERNET, THE HAMS DOMAIN.TikTok promises to keep its U.S. users data safe and sound are notsatisfying at least one member of the Federal CommunicationsCommission. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr said in a blisteringletter that the Chinese company has proved it cant be trusted withthe information users give it, and should bundled up and tossed outthe airlock.Carr posted an open letter sent to both Google and Apple on hisTwitter account. In it, he called on the companies to jettison theTikTok app from their app stores. Carr cites multiple cases of thecompany being exceptionally data-hungry. Most recently, BuzzFeedNews reported that the Chinese government had gained access toAmerican users data despite TikToks claims that it kept U.S. userinfo on servers on U.S. soil, far from the prying eyes ofBeijing. Carr said in his letter that both Apple and Google parentcompany Alphabet should remove TikTok from the app stores or elsesend him a letter by last Friday, July 8 explaining themselves.(this week in amateur radio website)WW SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS --- CWwww.morsecodeclassnet.comHerman, VK 2 IXV is looking for a Morse code key, not just ANY keybut a New Zealand made AKRAD or ULTIMATE Morse key.email: hermanusw@gmail.com(breakin)WORLD WIDE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP NEWS - AND - SUMMITS ON THE AIR,WORLD WIDE FLORA, FAUNA PROGRAM, PARKS ON THE AIR and otherADVENTURE GROUPS.hema.org.uk/index.jspminesontheair.com/about-motaparksontheair.com/sota.org.uksotawatch.sota.org.uk/en/wwffaustralia.com/This week we introduce a radio amateur who is lucky enough to havefound a way to combine two things she really loves - amateur radioand flying kites. Mike Askins KE5CXP from Amateur Radio NewsLinetells us about her adventures in Kite POTA."Lisa Neuscheler KC1YL has found a way to string together her Parkson the Air contacts from as close to her Florida home as Texas andas far away as the western states, the Caribbean and Europe. That's because the string she uses is the string of a kite. Thekite enthusiast launched her first high-flying ham radio antenna inOctober of last year on Florida's east coast with friends. Back home onthe west coast near Tampa, she and her small team have done eight kiteactivations since that time. This past March, she was on Florida'sHoneymoon Island when she achieved her first POTA kite-to-kite contactwith another team that also brought their kite there.Lisa told NewsLine that she credits Kourt de Haas, KB5PRZ, withinspiring her lofty goals after she learned that the Texas amateuraccomplished his QSO with her in 2016 - while she was still living inConnecticut - using an antenna on a kite over the Gulf of Mexico. Nowshe runs along the Florida beaches with a POTA kite team of her own, including Julie NF1T, Jack W1BBU and others. Her next challenge is a longer-distance POTA kite-to-kite contact withher friend Paul W1IP in Connecticut. Their first attempt on June 13thwas scrapped by insufficient wind on Paul's local beach. Lisa made 95regular POTA contacts that day using her kite antenna but none were madewith Paul. So they're trying again on July 11th.Lisa told NewsLine: [quote] "You have to be happy when you are holding akite string." [endquote]For Amateur Radio NewsLine I'm Mike Askins KE5CXP.No doubt she'll be even happier if on that day the wind helpscarry her ambition to reality. You might even say it will be'uplifting'.WW SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS - FINAL FRONTIERAMSAT-VK Secretary - secretary@amsat-vk.orgWe Amateurs and others around the world may listen in on contactsbetween amateurs operating in schools and allowing students tointeract with astronauts and cosmonauts aboard the InternationalSpace Station. The downlink frequency on which to listen is 145.800 MHz worldwide.(ANS)CAPSTONE, NASAs CubeSat designed to test a unique lunar orbit, issafely in space and on the first leg of its journey to the Moon. The spacecraft is heading toward an orbit intended in the future forGateway, a lunar space station built by the agency and itscommercial and international partners that will support NASAsArtemis program, including astronaut missions. The Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations andNavigation Experiment, or CAPSTONE, mission launched aboardRocket Labs Electron rocket from the Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 onthe Mahia Peninsula of New Zealand.(ANS)The European Space Agency has noticed that satellites of its Swarmconstellation lost altitude due to an increasingly violent solar cyclewhich started in 2019 and is likely to intensify. The year 2019 marked the beginning of a new solar cycle andfast-forward four years, this cycle has resulted in an increase inthe Suns disruptive activities.Currently, the sun is halfway into the new solar cycle, and this isthe period when the number of sunspots will continue to increasewhich in turn would amplify the number of solar eruptions.
