How 'bout considering a bicycle, or a skateboard, or a
    scooterboard?

I am not allowed to use any of those because of balance issues.

I made a 6km trip home from my shop in town a few months ago.
(I believe I posted the story and route of my trek here) That
nearly took 4 hrs - along the highway, across a golf course as
a shortcut, and the back roads. Wish I had a bicycle, at
    least.

I was issued a power scooter a few weeks ago. I should get it by the end of October. That will be much easier for me to go to the sore.

I see a handful of those scooting around my town - on the
sidewalks. They remind me of golf carts. At least you will be
able to sit down and "drive". :D

That's what your butt will be after sitting on it for too long. <G>

I'll mainly use it for going to "get supplies" on a public bus as I just
wear out easily pushing a cart around a store. I can put a backpack on the seat back on the scooter and at least be able to get a few groceries.
There's several stores that I will not be able to go in as the store itself
is too small but in that situation, I park the scooter near the cash
registers up front, do my shopping standing, then use the scooter to go
    home.

So I was with my parents yesterday at the acupuncturist and my mom was
talking to the receptionist about my dad and the surgeries he's had because
of his car accident. They were saying something about his butt hurting from surgeries and being dehydrated would cause his butt muscles to tighten up.

I then blurted out: "So you're saying Dad's a tightass."

    Sean,

That's what your butt will be after sitting on it for too long. <G>

    <snip!>

I then blurted out: "So you're saying Dad's a tightass."

LOL!! That's what Richard Pryor (Grover Muldoon) asked Gene Wilder
(George Caldwell) in "Silver Streak"...when he was making Gene to
look like a black guy, so they could get him on the train. When Gene's character started "jiving", Richard's character asked "How come you
whiteys got such a tight ass??". <G>

But, the dehydration issue might be why I don't have much insulation
(sitting on cold seats outside in the winter is really magnified). I
was also told that if you are dehydrated, when you stand up, your blood pressure can drop, and you can fall. That might be the reason I get
dizzy from getting up from medical gurneys, beds, or exam tables.

I had a good looking female nurse practitioner over last week for
a full physical exam (literally...I stripped down), and while she
was impressed with my 22 page medlist, she said that "she has seen
it all before" (nudity). She was 14 years younger than me, but she
was married (it seems all the good looking ones are taken (sigh!)).

She did tell me I needed to drink more water, but I told her what
W.C. Fields said: "I don't drink water. Fish [have sex] in it". <G>
But, my upper lip tried to split yesterday either from dehydration,
    or the sweetness in the "Kroger Koolaid" (Strawberry, Mango, Banana);
so, I may have to go to just straight water. I had to give up the diet
green tea and chocolate for all the caffeine, that was likely sending
my heart rate up to 155 twice in the last 2 months. The medicine has
stabilized the heart rate and the blood pressure...at least my oxygen
rate is still in the 93 to 97 percent range.

She added that I needed to get a bone density scan set up as well.
I see my cardiologist next Wednesday to discuss a possible ablation
procedure for the atrial fibrillation. That would allow me to get off
the blood thinner, so I wouldn't have to worry, in prepping for a
needed colonoscopy and upper GI (EGD).

I know some of this is TMI...but seriously, I don't care if you are
young or old, male or female. If you aren't proactive on your health,
you will regret it...and may not live to tell about it.
