    Sister Boniface was only made for 4 seasons but Father Brown is
    into season 13 for 2026 so it is still going..

    I've never seen/heard of these shows, but from what I've read here, I'm wondering if they inspired the US series, The Father Dowling Mysteries.

    I never watched Father Dowling but I think it is older than the two British shows in question.

    That's the one. It was one of a handful of non-traditional detective shows like The Snoop Sisters, Diagnosis Murder and Hart to Hart.

    I enjoyed the show. Tom Bosley seemed to "fit" as Father Dowling.

    I watched "Diagnosis: Murder" and "Hart To Hart". I haven't heard of he
    first show.

    Another show that I really enjoyd was "Murder She Wrote". The Roku
    Channel has the entire series available to watch for free.

    I especially like "The Rockford Files". Those answering machine
    messages could be brutal. XD

    If anyone copied it would be the other way around since Father Dowling
    came and went before the first episode of Father Brown..

    I think the idea of a Priest or similar solving mysteries has been
    around in literature for a long time though.
