    The iron fist once came out when someone spelled your name
    incorrectly. It's "SEAN, not SHAWN!!! - LIFE TIME
    BAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" LOL!

    Which reminds me.. Why does does "Sean" take the exception to
    sound like "Shawn", when almost all the other <consonant>EAN
    versions are pronounced with the long "e" = EE

    BEAN = bAWn? nope, it's = bEEn
    DEAN = dAWn? nope, it's = dEEn
    JEAN = jAWN? nope, it's = jEEn
    LEAN = lAWn? nope, it's = lEEn
    MEAN = mAWn? nope, it's = mEEn
    WEAN = wAWn? nope, it's = wEEn

    SEAN = sEEn? <G>

    if not, then

    SEAN = shAWn, which implies SEAN = SHAWN :)

    I hope this has shone some light on the matter.

    oh no..

    shone = shAWN? nope, it's = shOHn
    bone = bAWN? nope, it's = bOHn
    lone = lAWn? nope, it's lOHn
    mone = maWN? nope it's mUHn, obviously!
    none = nAWn? nope it's nUHn , another obvious one!
    pone = pAWN? nope, it's pOHn
    rone = rAWN? nope, it's rOHn
    tone = tAWN? nope, it's tOHn
    zone = zAWN? nope, it's zOHn

    Clear as mud.

    Simple: my first name is not English. It's Irish. English doesn't have the "sha" sound assigned to a "se" letter combination. Sean is the Gaelic form
    of John.

    Any other spelling of "Sean" is just a phonetic spelling of Sean. Like
    other Irish names are phonetically spelled in English. Another example that comes to mind is Ceilidh which becomes Kaylee (amongst many other spellings)
    in English.

    After nearly 50 years of my name being misspelled and mispronounced, I'm
    used to it.

    Later,
    Sean

    It's one of those quirks of life - or something to keep us on our toes.

    My name "deon" - if anybody writes it without asking me, 95% of the time they write "Dion".

    I remind them, its "Deon" like "Neon", *not* "Dion" like "Lion" :)

    I never thought of other "like..." words for the misspelling of
    your name, but lion is interesting. It's probably because I was
    familiar with your neon word example.

    It's interesting that I've never heard the name Celine Dion
    pronounced "see lain dai on" or "see lane die on".
