• ANSI & ASCII w/ GoldED

From Jay Harris@618:500/23.1 to All on Tue Dec 12 12:46:42 2023
    Hi All,

I have golded setup & going in Linux and it's working great, except that ANSI & High ASCII aren't displaying
    properly:

    https://ibb.co/Nn7sQCM

Does anyone have any pointers on how to make that display properly? I'm SSH'ing into Ubuntu 22.04 (64 bit) on
    a VPS.

Good luck getting that fixed. You either have to get your term to work in CP437 or play with your termcap. In 20+ years of using Linux, I never did
get GoldEd+ to work under Linux correctly. It wouldn't do a personal mail
scan correctly and no one seems to know why. Most of the navigation keys
don't work unless you get deep into the configuration and fiddle with it.

In the end, I gave up and just used offline mail.

If you figure it out, let me know.

I've got the Clearing Houz replies to show with a bunch of #'s instead of the garbly goop I was getting before, which is really all I care about. It's not like I ever go in and look at all of the BBS Ads which is about the only place I'll see ANSI (outside of the occasional signature line).

All of my navigation keys seem to work OK if I SSH from the command line. I can even use shift & the arrow keys to select and copy/delete text. If I use Putty things get kind of weird, the home & end keys won't work, can't select text, etc.

Hit send too soon, here's what Clearing Houz looks like now:

Weird, I use uBlock Origin so I've never seen any ads. I just disabled it on that site and you're right, that is rather obscene.

Why not host those on your own space?
